In a little over two weeks, the Class of 2024 will graduate! Senior parents should know that to receive a cap and gown seniors must: (a) pay graduation dues (Click here to submit payment), (b) return their Chromebooks and chargers to the technology team on May 17 or May 28, and (c) pay fines or other financial obligations. See class notes below for more details.
After graduation, the Class of 2024 will celebrate at the All-Night Graduation Party (ANGP) on Mon, Jun 3 from 10:30 pm to 4 am on Tues, Jun 4. Tickets will not be sold at the door, so buy your senior’s ANGP ticket now! The ANGP Committee is working hard to put on a memorable party, which will be held at the Spring Hill Rec Center. Students will have access to the indoor swimming pools where they can navigate a water obstacle course. They can try their luck in the casino, dance to the DJ or play a fun game of Laser Tag or Pac Man Battle Royal. There will even be a wind tunnel money machine and much more!
ANGP is a great evening for parents to join in the fun also! It takes volunteers from every class level to celebrate our seniors, so check out the info below and class notes for sign-up information.

Finally, I want to thank the PTSA Hospitality Committee for transforming the administrative hallway into a beautiful Mexican Fiesta, and treating teachers, staff and administrators to delicious food. I also want to thank Mary Lee and Jamie Loving for distributing appreciation gifts to teachers and staff, and Sara Koenig for collecting and handing out “thank you” messages students wrote to our dedicated teachers. I could tell that our teachers felt appreciated and enjoyed socializing with each other.
~ Joy Hohenthaner, PTSA President

spring musical report: Saxon Stage presented a Golden Age musical in April with Guys & Dolls! The show was a complete success as crowds drove in to fill the theatre with laughter and applause.
A highly successful part of this production was the community outreach that this group was involved in. They went out to senior homes around the county and performed some numbers from the show and had lunch with these community members. They heard great stories about some of their performance experience and love of the art. Great job from Saxon Stage to reach out and include these members of our community!

medicine and disease club raises funds! | |
Last weekend Langley's Medicine and Disease Club members and Club Presidents, sophomores Milan Le and Eesha Kaushik, displayed tremendous effort in coming out to the Great Falls Village to show their support to those with the devastating disease Cystic Fibrosis. The club raised a total of $1,300, 100% of which were donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
To prepare for this event, the club held meetings to learn about the disease with a scientific understanding and then created a trifold with the information they learned. All their hard work and creativity gained recognition from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation team, with a letter thanking the students for their hard work. Congrats!

We need your help! ANGP takes a village of volunteers and each class serves a traditional role as outlined below:
Senior parents, it is not possible to have an All Night Grad Party without your help! Senior parents help with check-in/out, food, games, prizes, casino, and security. Sign up here.
Junior class parents traditionally help with clean-up following ANGP! This is a great way to help the senior class parents so they can have the energy to stay up all night to run the party. Sign up here.
Sophomore class parent volunteers traditionally help with set-up and decorating for ANGP! You all get the fun part in making the venue festive! Sign up here.
Freshman parents, the freshman class is responsible for moving supplies from Langley (and picking up other things around McLean and Great Falls) to Spring Hill Rec Center in McLean. Then the items need to be placed throughout the venue. Sign up here.
We appreciate everyone's help supporting this year’s senior class! Pay it forward, as we will want our underclass parents to volunteer for us when it’s our turn! Questions? Contact Kristi Grgeta at kristi@grgeta.com.

Langley has welcomed several new faces amongst the staff this year, including Mr. Joseph Earley, who teaches AP World History. Mr. Earley has been teaching for over 33 years, moving to different locations around the world along the way. He has also taught several different subjects over the years.
“I’ve taught in schools in America, Brazil, Egypt, Taiwan, Shanghai, and Indonesia,” said Mr. Earley, “I’ve also taught APs, IBs, US History, and Economics.”
Though he grew up in the US, Mr. Earley began moving all around the world at a young age before returning back to the United States this year. He believes that his exposure to different countries and cultures has provided useful insights into the class that he teaches, and he wants students to be able to view the world in different ways so that they can truly connect to the material.
“I’m looking for students to engage in the lessons and enjoy coming to class,” said Mr. Earley, “I want them to participate, ask questions, get into debates, and generally enjoy seeing the world from another perspective.”
Seeing the growth and development of students’ abilities throughout the year is what Mr. Earley looks forward to every school year. Students often start the year out struggling, but eventually evolve into skilled writers, and this transition means a lot to him as an educator.
“My favorite part about teaching is the change from August to June, where you see students take such great strides,” said Mr. Earley.
“Particularly in an AP class where there is so much going on, you can see that kids are a little afraid at first, but by the end of the year they understand everything.”
After living in so many different countries, Mr. Earley has seen and been part of many different cultures in all his years of teaching, and he hopes to inspire more students in the upcoming school year.
“I’ve had a lot of great professional experiences around the world, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be here at Langley,” said Mr. Earley.
