UMCOR SUNDAY - March 10 –This Special Sunday is a denomination wide celebration designed to raise awareness and support for the ministry of The United Methodist Committee on Relief – otherwise known as UMCOR. The UMCOR Sunday offering underwrites UMCOR’s administrative costs to ensure 100% of gifts given for humanitarian response and recovery go directly to communities in need. These gifts ensure UMCOR can respond swiftly to disasters around the world and represent hope and healing to those most vulnerable. Gifts can be made by check with UMCOR Sunday in the memo line or online at ConcordUnited.org/give and selecting UMCOR Sunday.

 

SPRING BREAK SERVICE PROJECTS #1HELPING MAMAS - Monday, March 11, from 9:45AM–1:00PM - Volunteer with us at Helping Mamas. Depart from the East parking lot, we will carpool and go eat lunch together after we serve. Persons 8 years and older are invited to serve.  Children under 6th grade need to have an adult with them. Students’ 6th grade and older may come without a parent. Sign up here.

 

SPRING BREAK SERVICE PROJECT #2 WEDNESDAY CLEAN OUT- 9:30 – 11:30 AM We will sort, clean, organize and donate items form the medical equipment room to 2 local agencies. We will keep what is needed and share with Wheels for the World™ – Joni and Friends and Medical Equipment Loan | Spark | Knoxville, TN (sparktn.org), contact Jane Currin, jcurrin@concordunited.org or call/text 865-288-7427 if you willing to help for a bit. Please see the participant age levels listed in project #1.

 


HAVE YOU SEEN THE ORANGE FENCING IN THE EAST PARKING LOT? Luke Colgrove and Jacob Hartman are providing a Prayer Labyrinth for Concord United to use on the northeast section of the campus as their Eagle Scout project. Luke will be building the labyrinth, while Jacob will be providing the landscaping. As you can imagine, they will need lots of volunteers to help with the work and also help with the cost of the project. If you would like to help with labor or a monetary donation, contact Luke at luke.colgrove@gmail.com. Read more about the labyrinth project HERE. GUATEMALA MISSION TRIP Registration Is open for the Summer Mission Trip to the Highlands of Guatemala, July 13 – 21. Make your $250 deposit by March 10 here. For more details or to ask questions contact Jane Currin or 865-288-7427. The last date to join the team is April 10 or when the team reaches 18 team members. Students and adults, 9th grade and older are invited to participate.

 

HOLSTON HOME FOR CHILDREN - Sunday, March 17, you will have an opportunity to give a special offering for the Holston Home for Children. Your gift gives children a better life, a good education, and a chance to become responsible adults. It can also help reunite broken families or help children without families find permanency through adoption or foster homes.  Please give and designate "Holston Home" in the memo line or your check or give online at concordunited.com/give and select Holston Home for Children

ADULT MINISTRY


STATIONS OF THE CROSS is an interactive, one hour walk through experience focusing on Jesus’ journey from his sentence of death to being buried in the tomb. Persons will walk through six stations which tell the story of these events. Groups will begin every 15 minutes starting at 6:30pm until 7:15. We encourage sign-ups for a start time. Walk-ins are welcome though wait times for walk-ins may vary. Register here: Stations of the Cross Registration. For a "family friendly version", we have a set aside time at 6:00, Family Friendly Sign Up.

 

EARLY BIRD GROUP - Book study group of all ages. Group begins study of The Bible Jesus Read, Wednesday, March 13, 4:30 - 5:30 in room 145. Stay for a free meal in the Worship Center from 5:30-6:30. For more information, contact Melodie Knight at stampermjk@comcast.net.

CANDY DONATIONS NEEDED - We are in need of individually wrapped candy to be given out at the Easter Egg Hunt. Look for the wicker basket beside the Welcome Desk to drop off your candy.


TRAVEL CUPS GALORE - Have you checked the lost and found bookcase across from the welcome desk in the east building for your lost cup? Please take a look, we will donate everything to the Thrift Store in a couple of weeks.

The love and sympathy of the congregation is extended to Debbie Haskins on the death of her father, Charles Wade.
