TN HARP TRIO PERFORMANCE

Sunday, July 21 - 7PM


Concord is so thrilled to welcome the Tennessee Harp Trio for a very special concert Sunday evening, July 21st at 7:00 in the sanctuary. The concert will feature music of many styles, including music from Disney movies, television shows, and some favorite classical pieces. There is a $10.00 admission fee which can be paid at concordunited.org/events. You don’t want to miss this unique opportunity to hear incredible music from three outstanding musicians.

SERVING OTHERS

HELP A MOM BY DONATING DIAPERS AND SUPPLIES – During VBS the children will be asked to support one of our local mission partners, Helping Mamas Knoxville. Helping Mamas supports the well-being and dignity of women by providing diapers, period products and other essentials baby supplies. During the month of July Concord Missions and our Children’s ministry will be collecting packs of diapers sizes 4–7, baby wipes and baby wash or you may donate funds to support Helping Mamas at Concordunited.org/give

 

BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES -Elk Garden School Community Ministries is one of our partners and serves families in rural Russell County, VA. We are helping them with back to school and food pantry items. They have an Amazon Wish List (see below) with the items they need. You can order items from Amazon and have them shipped to Elk Garden or leave your donations in the tubs near the silver pantry racks at Concord. Click HERE for the link to their Amazon Wish List. UMCOR GOES TO WORK - The Unit UMCOR and its partners are responding to disasters across the globe every day. Please join us in prayer for the affected areas and consider giving to UMCOR U.S. Disaster Response to support these efforts by clicking HERE.

FEED THOSE IN OUR COMMUNITY - JULY PANTRY LIST - Syrup, Shampoo, Boxed Instant Potatoes, Large Soup (18oz or more), Cooking Oil (32oz). You can also help support the pantry with monetary donations at concordunited.org/give and select Food Pantry or with a check with Food Pantry in the memo line.  


VIOLIN NEEDED - We have a middle school student that plays the violin in the school orchestra but doesn't have one at home to practice with this summer and must share it during the school year. Do you have one around your home that's not being played? Would you consider donating it for the student to use? If so, please email Missions@concordunited.org

GROWING IN FAITH

ADULT MINISTRY

DEEPLY ROOTED SUNDAY MORNING LARGE GROUP -  We will be learning the basics of reading the Bible in our summer Sunday large group. Join us July 14, 21, 28 from 10:00-10:50 in the Fellowship Hall. We will also read a book of the Bible in just three weeks. Take the next step in being deeply rooted in God's word. For more info, contact Pastor Brooke at bhartman@concordunited.org

 

COMMUNITY CARE NIGHT - We will officially open our Prayer Labyrinth August 11. Join us Wednesday, July 24, as we learn more about what a Prayer Labyrinth is and how to use the one at Concord. Free meal from 5:30-6:30 followed by worship at 6:30. Children and youth activities this week. Bring the whole family and friends too. For more information, contact Pastor Brooke at bhartman@concordunited.org.

 

YOUNG ADULTS - Check out all of the summer activities at ConcordUnited.org/events. Also, the NEW Young Adult Sunday school class meets weekly in Room 57 (basement).

 

RELATIONSHIP CHECK UP - Sunday, September 22 & 29 - 12:30-2PM - Sign up for the "Relationship Check Up". In this two session program, participants will explore a detailed report from their Enrich Couples Inventory (to be completed beforehand). Couples will be invited to capitalize on their strengths and learn practical skills to navigate their challenges. This experience is designed for couples who aim to improve their relationship and is not designed for couples in crisis. Space is limited, registration is required. $75 per couple. Fee due at time of registration. This includes lunch and childcare if needed. Register at ConcordUnited.org/events.


ATTENTION ALL MEN - Bob Kesling will speak at the United Methodist Men's groups on August 4 at 5 pm in the Worship Center (note change of time and place). We’ll have dinner from Buddy’s Barbecue followed by our speaker, Bob Kesling. He will share his preview of the UT Football season with us. Women are welcome. The congregation mourns the loss of Alex White, Concord member since June 20, 1976, who died on July 19.


The love and sympathy of the congregation is extended to Diane & David Weakley on the death of their son-in-law and Angela and their two children on the death of her husband and their dad, Justin Aldridge.
