Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Companies Selected
The long-awaited announcement of the statewide organizations and Provider-Led Entities that will manage the Standard Plans for Medicaid moves NC closer to implementation of physical health services under managed care and integrating physical, behavioral health and I-DD care. Four private managed care companies have been chosen as statewide Prepaid Health Plans that will manage Medicaid services under the Standard Plan starting November 1, 2019. The four organizations are:
  • AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina, Inc.
  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina
  • United Healthcare of North Carolina, Inc.
  • WellCare of North Carolina, Inc.

Healthy Opportunities Pilots to Further Whole Person Care 
NC DHHS will identify two to four geographic areas of the state "to test evidence-based interventions designed to improve health and reduce costs by directly addressing housing instability, transportation insecurity, food insecurity, interpersonal violence and toxic stress for eligible Medicaid enrollees."

Legislative Report Does Not Require Regionalization of DSS Offices
In 2017, the General Assembly passed legislation to address ways to strengthen and restructure the social service and child welfare system in North Carolina...This report focuses on information sharing, conflicts of interest, inter-county movement, and regional administration to improve inter-county collaboration. 

Family First Prevention Services Act Creates Trauma-Informed Options for Children
The Family First Prevention Services Act signed into law by Congress on February 9, 2018, could drastically change the child welfare system by putting more of an emphasis on prevention and using a trauma-informed approach to develop service and support plans for children at-risk of entering foster care or children already placed in foster care.

i2i Training on System Changes Impacting Child Behavioral Health
The i2i Center is teaming up with the NC Division of MH/DD/SAS to present a day long training on 
March 28th in Raleigh on Public Policy Changes Impacting System of Care for Children, Youth & Families.  
This training will cover:  Medicaid Transformation, Federal Families First Act, Social Service and Child Welfare Restructuring, Raise the Age Juvenile Jurisdiction and School Based MH Changes.  

System of Care: Coordinators, Supervisors, Lead Family Partners, Collaborative Co-Chairs, & NC Collaborative for Children, Youth and Families Executive Committee and the Public Policy/Research Committee Members.

Registration Fee for Providers is $75
