As the school year winds down, take the opportunity to support our performing art students and athletes. This month is full of performances such as the Choral show, “The Magical Music of Disney,” the final Orchestra and Band Concert, and performances by the Langley Saxon Stage. See below for details on the performances.
Our spring athletes concluded the regular season earlier this week and now turn to the post season. Come out and support the Varsity Softball, Baseball, Boys & Girls Lacrosse and Track teams, which will be playing in their respective District Tournament starting tomorrow. I also want to wish good luck to our Crew team which will be competing at VASRA State Championship on Saturday. Go Saxons!!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Please join me in thanking the faculty members who work so hard to support our students in and out of the classroom. It is also a great opportunity for our seniors to thank the teachers and counselors who wrote their college recommendation letters and helped with college applications. Speaking of seniors, the All Night Grad Party (ANGP) is a few weeks away. Buy your tickets today! The price is $85 until May 15, when it will increase to $100. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
Finally, I want to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all our Langley moms! I hope you have a fun and relaxing day.

AP testing started this week! Student Services still needs a few parent volunteers to help in administering AP testing from May 6-17. You will be paired with a knowledgeable member of the Student Services team and only be tasked with assisting in handing out and collecting materials and supervising the test. Test proctoring runs about 4 hours per test, and the exams generally begin at 8 am and 12 pm. The only rule is that you can’t proctor a test your student is taking. Sign up here!
Because of the vast amount of testing done in the building, every proctor is greatly appreciated!

all-night grad party volunteers needed | |
ANGP will be on Tues, Jun 3 from 10:30 pm – June 4 at 4 am at Spring Hill Recreation Center. This year marks the 36th annual Langley HS All-Night Graduation Party (ANGP) for graduating seniors! Our goal is to reduce the risk of teen drinking and drug use on graduation night, saving the lives of our teens and other drivers. ANGP provides our graduates with a fun, safe, and alcohol and drug-free evening to celebrate their success!
ANGP takes a village of volunteers and each class serves a traditional role as outlined below:
Senior parents, it is not possible to have an All Night Grad Party without your help! Senior parents help with check-in/out, food, games, prizes, casino, and security.
Sign up here.
Junior class parents traditionally help with clean-up following ANGP! This is a great way to help the senior class parents so they can have the energy to stay up all night to run the party. Sign up here.
Sophomore class parent volunteers traditionally help with set-up and decorating for ANGP! You all get the fun part in making the venue festive! Sign up here.
Freshman parents, the freshman class is responsible for moving supplies from Langley (and picking up other things around McLean and Great Falls) to Spring Hill Rec Center in McLean. Then the items need to be placed throughout the venue.
Sign up here.
Mark your calendars to support this year’s senior class as we will want our underclass parents to volunteer for us when it’s our turn! Questions? Contact Kristi Grgeta at kristi@grgeta.com.

9th grade World History teacher Audrey Quinby is a former employee of the State Department and is taking her experience to classes.
“My undergrad was at George Washington University and I went to grad school at Georgetown…I started as an Army officer and then worked in the State Department,” she said.
Mrs. Quinby was drawn to Langley because of the people and community.
“I knew someone on the faculty here who said that it was a great place to work with great kids and that was enough for me,” she said.
Within the curriculum of World History 1, Mrs. Quinby hopes to add her own touch to the learning process.
“I’m really energized when the students participate in class, so I really like to ask the questions that bring out either the students' responses or that make them more engaged in the learning…I think that the best classroom is an active classroom where the students are interested in the material and they are an active part of the learning environment…I really enjoy just the new perspectives that they bring on things, I mean you can teach the same class multiple times in the day and get totally different answers to each of the questions, and I love the insight that students bring to the classroom every day,” she said.
Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Quinby has several hobbies and is a parent herself.
“I’m a very active person…I run and I work out…[and] I like to hike with my friends. When I’m not doing that though, my kids have a lot of activities, so my daughter does lacrosse and a whole bunch of other things…[my family is] always doing something,” she said.
Mrs. Quinby finds pleasure in this new journey.
“I’m excited to be at Langley [and] I’ve appreciated the warm welcome”.
