Military Appreciation Slideshow: June 30
We are profoundly grateful for those of you who have served in the military. The freedoms, privileges, and safety we enjoy directly result from your service and sacrifice. You are our heroes, and we want to recognize and honor you.
On Sunday, June 30, we will take time during each worship service to recognize & honor our military with a special slideshow. If you're current or former military, we invite you to participate!
To help us identify you, please contact Kelli Bryan with your FULL NAME and the MILITARY BRANCH you serve(d) in, then upload a photo of yourself in uniform.
| |
NOTE: If you participated in last year's military slideshow, there is no need to resend your photo. We already plan to use it in this year's slideshow! However, if you wish to opt out, please contact Kelli Bryan.

PDHC: Baby Bottle Campaign
The Pregnancy Decision Health Center (PDHC) needs your prayers and financial support. Please pick up your baby bottle this Sunday, fill it with change, and return it to the church by Father's Day (June 16).
You may drop off your coin-filled baby bottle at the Welcome Center on any Sunday morning or anytime Monday through Friday during office hours (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM).
You can also "fill a bottle" online! The PDHC has a special donation page for Worthington Christian Church's 'Bottles for Life' campaign. Please visit their website to donate online today!

The number of kids we can host for our annual Vacation Bible School depends entirely on the number of volunteers we have for VBS week—this is why VBS volunteers are so important!
If you can volunteer for all of VBS week, or only a day or two, we would love your help! More information about our volunteer opportunities is available on our VBS website, exploreVBS.com for an overview of positions.
NOTE: We need six volunteers to serve as Elementary Crew Leaders and 16 volunteers to serve as Jr. Crew Leaders. Elementary crew leaders can be adults or older teens, but Jr. Crew Leaders can be Middle School students to adults. Questions? Please contact the VBS Director.

Impact Partnership Spotlight:
Worthington Christian Village
| |
Worthington Christian Village (WCV), a vibrant retirement community, offers a variety of living options, from independent cottages to assisted living apartments. The community boasts a dining hall, general store, beauty salon, library, fitness room, chapel, computer lounge, and billiard room, ensuring residents have access to a wide range of amenities.
With a strong commitment to excellent care and support, the community frequently hosts events and functions, often requiring the valuable assistance of potential residents and external help. Your involvement can truly make a difference!
| |
|
The WCV has several great service opportunities for individuals, couples, families, or groups of friends! Below is a list of some of the upcoming events that could use a little extra help.
Visit Park of Roses: Volunteers are needed on Friday, June 14, to help push residents in wheelchairs around the Park of Roses. Volunteers can ride with them in their van or meet at the Park. Time to be determined.
Assist with Game Night: Volunteers are needed to help on our next Game Night on Friday, June 28, at 6:30 PM. Volunteers may bring a light snack to share and participate in the games with the residents.
Assist with editing and/or copying of a publication: Brenda Starr is often tasked with editing and copying our quarterly creative writing publication, The Village Writer, and she could use some extra help. If you have experience as a proofreader or editor or just know how to run a copier, we'd love your assistance!
Drive Residents to Appointments: Volunteers are needed to drive residents to and from their appointments or errands. Dates and times vary.
Assist with Wii Bowling: Volunteers are needed to challenge the residents to a Wii Bowling Tournament every Friday at 10:00 AM. Some of the residents are pretty good, so be prepared!
Pass out daily packets to residents: Volunteers are needed to pass out daily packets to the residents in Assisted Living and the Healthcare Center. This opportunity is in the mornings (9:00 to 10:00 AM) on various days. This is also an excellent opportunity to visit with our residents and get to know them!
Assist with Bocce Ball or Chair Volleyball: Volunteers are needed to assist residents with gameplay on Fridays at 2:00 PM.
Call Bingo: Volunteers are needed to call Bingo on our Assisted Living Floor on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons, usually around 2:00 PM.
Weeding: Assist our residents who live in the Colony with weeding their gardens.
Arts & Crafts: Assist our Activities Director with an Arts & Crafts class in the Healthcare Center, usually on Mondays at 3:00 PM.
If you'd like to help or learn more about any of the above activities, please contact Erin Thomas, Activities Director at 614-846-6076, ext. 312.

Join us for an evening of fun and fellowship as we officially kick off our new Young Adults Group with a cookout in the WCC Backyard on Sunday, June 30, at 6:00 PM! This group is for young adults (married or unmarried) between the ages of 18 and 29 who want to connect with others. If your spouse is in their 30s, you can (of course!) bring them.
Food will be provided, and yard games will be played! Our menu for the evening will include hot dogs, sides, beverages, and desserts. We will have a selection of yard games to play, so be ready for fun!
Remember to bring a chair or blanket to sit on! (We will move the event inside if it looks like rain.)
| |
This is the kick-off event for a new Young Adults Group that will meet at the church from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesdays beginning July 16. More details about that group will be announced soon! Questions? Please contact Keegan Bumpus.
NOTE: We love your little ones, but please make other plans for them this evening. This event is for young adults only. Thanks!

We would love to have you join the fun in Kids Ministry as we share the life-changing love of Jesus with kids in a way they can understand.

HELP KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS LEARN THEIR LETTERS
Slate Hill Elementary needs volunteers to help their kindergarten students with their grapheme and phoneme skills. (That's a fancy way of saying they need help with letter recognition and sounds!) Mastering these skills is vital to equip young students for future success in school.
The program will begin in October, and volunteers will be asked to serve for 30 to 60 minutes a week. Training will be provided in September. Interested volunteers can choose from several times: 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00 AM, and 12:30 PM. Please contact Alison Morrow for more information or to express interest in volunteering.
NOTE: Background checks are required.

Worthington Resource Pantry
The Worthington Resource Pantry offers an important service to our community—it connects neighbors to healthy food, resources, and each other. Each year, the pantry sees an increase in the number of families seeking assistance. This past April, they served 529 more families than they did the previous April.
The summer months are often the busiest times for the pantry, and supplies can dwindle quickly. That's why we need your help keeping the pantry well-stocked during these months!
Join us as we participate in the Worthington Resource Pantry Summer Stock Up Food Drive!

We anticipate that Phase 2 will be complete by August 2024.
We are so thankful for your continued prayers and support during this time!
