Coming Events
September 14 is Get Connected Sunday! Come and see all the different ministries offered at St. Francis, enjoy burgers, hotdogs, or plant facsimiles thereof, as well as desserts provided by the youth of the congregation. It all happens after the 10:00 am service, in the Palm Court (formerly known as, “The place under the arches...”).
September 30: Father Jason will finally be installed! We’ve been running a shareware version of Father Jason, but the diocese has agreed it’s time for the real deal. The service will be at 11:00 am, with pulled pork provided by Dr. Tim Coleman and sides provided by the congregation.
October 7: Pet Blessing in the St. Francis Garden (time TBD). We will be collecting a goodwill offering for an area shelter (also TBD).
October 8: St. Francis Day: we will celebrate our patron saint in the Palm Court, toasting his courage and faith with delicious bowls of chili.

Communion at the Rail
This Sunday we will return to having communion at the rail. After some discussion at Vestry it was decided that so long as we continue to follow the same protocols for receiving communion, there's no reason not to go to the rail. The protocol currently in place is this: the priest gives each communicant the host after dipping it in the wine, or at the person's request, leaving out the wine altogether. The clergy will continue to hold the chalice, and they will be followed by Eucharistic Ministers who will keep the bread. In essence, it is the moving version of what we are doing now. For many, being able to kneel at the rail is the penultimate part of the service - it is there, in supplication, prayer and humility, that we are able to receive the living body of Christ. Consuming the bread - the body - makes us one with Christ, if just for that moment. As C.S. Lewis wrote, our posture in prayer makes a difference. Our hope is to work out any issues we have before Get Connected Sunday.

Nursery & Sunday School families!
Summer Sunday School
While parents and guardians worship, our kids will be thriving, with supervised fun in the fantastic Town and Country playground this summer. Come straight down to the playground at the bottom of the steps. Or ask an Usher to direct you.
The nursery is still available for our tiniest church members. Up to you to decide where your little one(s) would be happiest.
And as ever we always welcome kids in church. No one will shush you. We love to see families and children in our pews!
Sunday School — Sept. 10
Sunday School will be starting up again on Sunday, September 10, during our 10:00 am service!

Weekly Worship
Sundays - Holy Communion
8:00 a.m. - Rite I in-person worship in the Chapel, with hymns. This service is not live-streamed.
|
|
10:00 a.m. - Rite II in-person worship in the main church with music. L ive-streamed on Facebook and YouTube, and available for watching later.
Following the service we have coffee, tea (or plain, warm water), donut holes and other yummy nibbles. We also have a children's social hour in the St Francis' Garden, to the right of the church. There the kids enjoy juice, water, cookies and fruit. If you're reading this, odds are good you've been to at least one service - or someone surreptitiously gave us your email address. If you have any questions about what we do or why we do it, please don't hesitate to make an appointment with Father Jason, who loves talking about church (also Jesus, his kids and Star Wars, though not always in that order).
