The moment we have been preparing for is finally here! The Woodlands Hills will be launching their very first service this coming Sunday! So many people have been working tirelessly to prepare for the launch of this church and the vision for the future. It is important to us that we remain one church in two locations. In children’s ministry that means creating consistency and unity where we are able to. This includes things like curriculum, our name, and events for kids and families.
First Methodist Conroe and The Woodlands Hills will both be using our new curriculum, Wonder Ink. FMC kicked off this new curriculum last Sunday and I was so encouraged to hear the in-depth discussions that these kids were having about how amazing it is that God knows everything about them and knew them before they were even born! Wonder Ink not only allows kids to hear, see, and experience the Bible Story each week, it also encourages kids to be curious and ask questions in order to take ownership of their faith. Parents have the opportunity to join the online portal so that their kids can do activities at home or be able to see the Bible story for each Sunday. Click here to register for the WonderInk Online Portal.
At both campuses we will be using the name kidLIFE for children’s ministry. The discipleship strategy for our church will be L.I.F.E. better together. We want the culture of our children’s ministry to experience that as well. We want them to live in community, invest in others, focus outward, and encounter God. Very soon you will begin to notice this name change take place.
On February 25th, FMC will be hosting the Birds and the Bees Parent Workshop from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in the Asbury Room. This workshop is designed to be a toolbox for parents to know what to say when their child begins asking hard questions that you may not know the answer to. It’s never too early to begin the conversation at an age appropriate level and this workshop teaches parents how to do that. To sign up, click here.
If you are looking for a place to serve, The Woodlands Hills campus is still looking for elementary and toddler small group leaders at 9:30 a.m. In case you were wondering, if you serve at 9:30 a.m. there is still time to make it to the 11:00 a.m. service at FMC. What a gift it is to be able to be a part of serving in a brand new campus and to watch it grow. Contact Nancy Person at nperson@fmconroe.org for more information on serving at The Woodlands Hills Community Church.
We could also use a few more people to serve in children’s ministry at FMC as part of our welcome team, small group leader, or a sub. Specifically, we are in need of a 9:30 a.m. 4th/5th grade small group leader. Each week everything is prepared for you and you are given everything that you need to teach. To witness kids growing in their faith, discovering who God is, and who they are in Him each week allows volunteers to experience God’s presence in new ways. In addition, we need a couple more people to greet families in the children’s area before/ after service. If this is something that you want to be a part of, or learn more about, contact Kailey Davis at kdavis@fmconroe.org.
Blessings!
Kailey Davis

Ash Wednesday Service
Wed., February 14 at 7:00 p.m.
Ash Wednesday dates back to the 11th century. Yet, the tradition of receiving ashes has even earlier roots — to the ancient Hebrew custom of clothing oneself in sackcloth and dusting oneself with ashes as a sign of penance. This long tradition — of externally recognizing ourselves as sinners seeking renewal with God — ultimately transformed into what we now know as Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.
During Lent, many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. This holy day emphasizes two themes: our sinfulness before God and our human mortality. The service focuses on both themes, helping us realize that both have been triumphed through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The book of the law shall not depart out of my mouth, but I shall meditate on your word day and night, that I may do all that is written therein. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8.
