Dear Trinity Episcopal Church,

Celebrating baptisms is one of the great joys of my ministry. But much of my joy does not just come from the service itself, but from the preparation I do with each family. For instance, because of the baptisms we had last Sunday I got to know the Krinock and McConnell families that much better. Both families are faithful, and so grateful for this community that has welcomed them in.

This is a good reminder for all of us at Trinity. We all have to work together to foster that spirit of hospitality and grace, especially as our church continues to grow. This is something we do so well, and I simply want to say, "keep it up!"

Finally, this newsletter has some information about our upcoming Lunch and Learn with Rabbi Peter Kessler. He'll be joining us on Friday, May 3 to talk about Passover. If you are able to, please join us for this time of fellowship and education with him.

With peace,

Jimmy

The Feast of the Ascension Worship Service

Thursday, May 9th 6:00 p.m.

Grace Episcopal Church

1115 36th Street - Galveston

Thursday, May 9, is the Feast of the Ascension, the day on which we remember and celebrate that our Lord Jesus has ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God Almighty. Ascension Day is always forty days after Easter (thus always a Thursday) and is one of the seven principal feast days of the Church. As we have done with other holy day services, we will worship with the people of Grace Episcopal Church and Saint Augustine of Hippo Episcopal Church. This year, Grace Episcopal will host the worship service, it will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Sunday School for all ages

Trinity hosts Sunday School for all ages at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday.

The children's Sunday School program, Weaving God's Promises, is a curriculum that introduces children to the grand narrative of the Bible.

Children's Sunday School takes places in the Children's Chapel, located off the cloister.

Children's Chapel, which takes place during the 10:30 a.m. service, continues every Sunday.

Youth Sunday School

Jena Krinock, our youth minister, will lead youth Sunday School in the Episcopal Student Center (formerly the William Temple Center).

Adult Sunday School

Adult Sunday School takes place in upstairs Eaton Hall. The elevator is available each Sunday for access to the Sunday School space.

Spring Topic: "The Bible: Alpha to Omega."

During Adult Sunday School, Jimmy will offer an introduction and teaching on every single book of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Whether you come for one session or all of them, you are sure to learn something!

Screening of the film

The Philadelphia 11

Wednesday, June 12

6:00 p.m.

St. Thomas the Apostle

Episcopal Church - Nassau Bay

July 29, 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the ordination of women to the priesthood in the Episcopal church, an ordination that many of us have come to take for granted, but that was extremely controversial within and the without the church. This moving documentary tells the story of the first 11 women ordinands, their consideration by the larger church and within their home dioceses, their legacy, their love of God and the sacraments, and offers and inspiring celebration of perseverance, discernment, and equality. Bring a friend to this open event and expect nibbles, beverages, and a lovely panel discussion by some of the Philadelphia 11 after the film.
