Dear Trinity Episcopal Church,

One of the aspects of ministry in Galveston that I most treasure is our mutual love and shared ministry with all three Episcopal churches on the island. In a demonstration of that solidarity, we will all gather this Saturday, June 1, at 10:30 a.m. to dedicate this cemetery marker for the Rev. Thomas Cain and his wife, Bettie, who both perished during the Great Storm of 1900. Together, all three churches raised the money for this marker so that the memory of Rev. Cain's incredible ministy would not be lost.

You can learn more about the Rev. Cain, this particular effort, and the celebration by following the links below.

With peace,

Jimmy

Trinity Vacation Bible School - Open to everyone!

Trinity VBS 2024

Sundays - June 23 & 30, July 7 & 14

11:45 a.m.*

Eaton Hall

*Children will begin VBS during the 10:30 a.m. Children's Chapel service.

VBS is free and open to everyone.

At least one adult per family must attend and participate in VBS. (No drop offs.)

The theme for this year's Vacation Bible School is "Christmas Unwrapped!" When Christmas comes around, we are all so busy with parties, shopping, and family, that we can miss the good news of great joy. This summer during VBS, there will be opportunities for our entire parish to grow together and learn about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and what that means for our daily lives.

Held on four consecutive Sundays in June and July for the whole family, attend one or all of the sessions. VBS will begin in children's chapel during the 10:30 service, followed by lunch in Eaton Hall for everyone attending immediately following the service. The second half will include a bible study and exploration of our favorite Christmas carols for the adults and then music, crafts, games and more for the kids! VBS will end at 1:15 each Sunday.

VBS Sign Up

Please use VBS Sign-up to signal your intent to attend. This will help us prepare for appropriate supplies for VBS.

Wednesday, June 12

6:00 p.m.

St. Thomas the Apostle

Episcopal Church - Nassau Bay

July 29, 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the ordination of women to the priesthood in the Episcopal church, an ordination that many of us have come to take for granted, but that was extremely controversial within and the without the church. This moving documentary tells the story of the first 11 women ordinands, their consideration by the larger church and within their home dioceses, their legacy, their love of God and the sacraments, and offers and inspiring celebration of perseverance, discernment, and equality. Bring a friend to this open event and expect nibbles, beverages, and a lovely panel discussion by some of the Philadelphia 11 after the film.
