Island Alert Notification System
The City of Galveston is encouraging everyone to sign up for the city’s emergency notification system, Island Alert. Disasters can happen at any time, not just during hurricane season. It is important when disaster strikes that you are receiving accurate and reliable information to make decisions that are in the best interest of you and your family.
Island Alert allows the city to communicate with residents by sending alerts via telephone and text messages. During an emergency, the system delivers timely public-safety messages regarding issues such as inclement weather, evacuation notices and more. It is easy to set up an account, and once created multiple devices can be added to an individual account.
Text “GALVESTON” to 24639 to sign up for Island Alert or register online at https://www.galvestontx.gov/196/Emergency-Notification-System. If enrollees experience any problems call the Office of Emergency Management at 409-765-3710.
