At Centennial UMC in Frederick, almost every day can feel like Pentecost as people from a variety of cultures gather at the church and the new Spirit comes to life. See the story.


This Wednesday is Juneteenth. The Conference staff will be off on this national holiday. Hear a podcast with Bishop LaTrelle Easterling and Opal Lee, a United Methodist known as the grandmother of Juneteenth.


St. Paul UMC in Berlin was named a United Methodist historic site, a unique honor within the denomination. Read the story about the church and its connection with the historic preacher and songwriter Rev. Charles Tindley. See the story.


We pray for the pastors and congregations that will experience changes in appointments on July 1. Bishop Easterling and the Cabinet have announced a few new appointments. See the list.


St. Luke UMC in Baltimore recently held its second community cookout on June 8. The event, held on the streets of Sandtown, featured 12 baptisms. The local fire department provided the water for the pool. More than 400 people attended. With community partnerships, groceries were handed out, cell phones were given out, career counseling was provided, a large video game bus offered fun for youth, and free haircuts and braiding were provided by local cosmetology students.

Special Memorial Service for Tony Martucci

The BWC will hold a memorial service on Friday, June 21, at noon at the Mission Center in Fulton to remember and honor the life of Tony Martucci, the former Mission Center Assistant.


Martucci, 31, died unexpectedly on March 7.  At the service, a special bench will be dedicated to Tony’s memory. June 21 was Tony's birthday. As we celebrate his legacy, we also remember the call, inscribed on the bench, to be a living "prayer for all people."

Discipleship Opportunities

Mission u: The Baltimore-Washington and Peninsula-Delaware Conferences United Women in Faith and the BWC's Wellness and Missions ministries will host Mission u at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum on July 20. Early bird registration, which closes on June 21, is $80 for adults, $40 for youth and $30 on Zoom. After that, the cost is $90 for adults, $45 for youth and $35 on Zoom. Learn moreRegister.



An India Christian Day will be celebrated in the DMV area at the Southern Asian Seventh Day Adventist Church in Silver Spring on Saturday, June 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial First India UMC in Silver Spring will lead the singing and the Revs. Christine Kumar and Neal Christie with offer remarks. A free Indian dinner will be served at this ecumenical event. All are welcome. 


Foundry UMC in Washington D.C. invites United Methodists to participate in the Mass Poor People's & Low-Wage Workers' Assembly & Moral March on Washington, D.C., & to the Polls on June 29 at 10 a.m. at 3rd St. and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Learn more.
