A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR:
Welcome to the redeveloped newsletter of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio! As a place to share our stories and connect for spiritual, relational, and formational growth, it's our hope that this reorganization will make information more intentional, more accessible, and more focused on lifting up the stories of Episcopalians making an impact in Southern Ohio.
As part of this redevelopment, we're also looking ahead to a new schedule: with more frequent and intentional email contact from the diocesan office (new patterns of full invitations for diocesan events; and administration, finance, and governance notices directed to their specific leaders), the storytelling-focused newsletter will come out every other Tuesday, a shift from every week. You should expect to see our next issue land in your inbox on Tuesday, September 3rd.
It is a joy to be with you all in the Diocese of Southern Ohio. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, with feedback, or to connect around your local communications ministries. - Katie Forsyth, Canon for Communications for the Diocese of Southern Ohio

Her mentor and supervisor, the Rev. Leslie Stokes Smalls, a UCC pastor, was invited to deliver the sermon for Saturday's ordination service, reminding all those in ministry to support one another and look for companions on the way, saying, "The good news for us today is that Jesus sets our example of sharing the load. Jesus does not say, 'only I can do this,'...instead he entrusts others with the work...

Faith leaders pose for a photo at the 2023 Festival of Faiths.
As Episcopalians, we believe in connection to our wider faith community, and the Festival of Faiths is a terrific opportunity to grow that connection through greater understanding of differing faith traditions. Several Christian denominations participate at the festival, and non-Christian traditions such as Bahá’í, Buddhism, Judaism, Zoroastrian, Sikh and Islam are also represented. Imagine a ministry fair – but each table is hosted by a different faith community. Participating organizations are encouraged to share with attendees how their faith tradition advances compassion and promotes peace in the community... Keep reading on our website.
