OB/GYN Dr. Lissa
Rankin
 |
Thursday, October 14, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Dr. Lissa Rankin: What's Up
Down There?
What if your best friend was
a gynecologist and you could talk candidly about every question
you've ever had about gynecology, sex, and women's health, all
while drinking a glass of wine and sharing a good laugh? My
girlfriends actually get to indulge in that kind of intimacy,
asking Lissa all the things they would never ask their doctors. In
this age of managed care, most women get no more than ten minutes
with their physicians, and a rushed doctor's visit leaves them
feeling uncomfortable bringing up sensitive topics. Consequently,
too few women truly understand the inner-workings of their own
bodies, which leads to anxiety, shame, fear, guilt, and the
perpetuation of misinformation. It doesn't have to be that way!
Lissa will talk (frankly!) about her new book What's Up Down
There? Questions You'd Only Ask Your Gynecologist If She Was Your
Best Friend. See www.owningpink.com for more! Cost:
Free
Thursdays,
October 14 & 28, 6:30 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. Yoga Nidra with Dr.
Gina Sager
Yoga nidra (yogic sleep) is
a state of heightened wakefulness and greater consciousness. The
deep physical relaxation allows the release of energy blocks,
muscle tension and subtle emotional blocks, which are a result of
unprocessed, suppressed or unwelcome emotions and experience. Yoga
nidra offers deep physical, emotional, mental, physiologic and
metabolic rest -- the perfect antidote for the way we live
today! Cost:
$20

Daniel Pinchbeck's latest essay collection, Notes from the Edge
Times, illustrates why he has become an important voice in
the generation of Edge-Timers. With consistency and conviction,
Pinchbeck writes to find meaning in all there is (or might be) in
our Universe and inside our selves. Daniel's essays attempt to make
sense of the world and readers are along for the thrilling ride as
he unravels the mysterious. Fascinated with psychedelics,
prophaecies and other areas of "marginal weirdness," Daniel's
essays feel like you're having an illuminating and accessible
wide-range conversation on esoteric topics. Daniel, one of the best
illuminators of our time, is helping us replace the system. I look
forward to his continued evolution and how it will help us all
evolve. Daniel is the author of previous best-sellers, 2012: The Return of

Saturday, November 6 - Sunday,
November 7, Silent Meditation Retreat facilitated by Susan
Weis-Bohlen
(Space is limited and we are
filling up fast. Please call soon to save your space!)
Come
into nature and begin to find your true nature through silence,
stillness and introspection. This retreat will take place in a
beautiful 150-year-old renovated farm house in Frederick, Maryland.
Escape from the distractions of the city. Enjoy access to fields
and fo rest,
walk along the stream and country roads, and feel
supported in
silence and meditation.
I will be leading the weekend, which will include light
vegetarian/Ayurvedic meals, meditation instruction, seated and
walking meditation, guided meditation, and special instruction on
mantras and pranayama (breath work).
Since
1996 I have attended over a dozen week-long silent retreats in the
U.S. and Europe, and have taught monthly meditation classes at
breathe books. I'm so excited to have the opportunity to facilitate
this retreat in such a gorgeous, contemplative setting, as part of
our expanding ventures in our breathe deep series.
This
retreat is ideal for people with some meditation experience, as
well as those who interested in deepening their more extensive
practice. While I will present some meditation instruction and
Dharma talks, there are several segments of the retreat which will
be self-directed. Beginners are welcome!
Cost: $245, which includes room
and board (shared rooms and delicious Ayurvedic meals) and
instruction. Space is limited so please contact us soon to sign
up. Retreat
begins at 12 noon on Saturday and ends at 5 p.m. on
Sunday.
