Puebla: The Story of Cinco de Mayo
Calpulli Mexican Dance Company will present excerpts from Puebla: The Story of Cinco de Mayo on Tuesday, April 30, 6:30 pm, featuring songs, dances and stories. The Calpulli Dancers will explain imagery, culture and rhythms throughout the program as well as the history of Cinco de Mayo. Registration requested.

New Rochelle has an unprecedented number of historically significant properties. Over 1,000 are eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places! It is no surprise - our community's long and diverse history resounds in its amazing array of architecture, vibrant cultural fabric, and abundance of prominent individuals who made their homes here.
In this 75-minute virtual slideshow on Wednesday, May 1, 6:00 pm, Barbara Davis, New Rochelle's City Historian and Co-Director of the Westchester County Historical Society, will provide a fascinating overview of New Rochelle's historically significant properties and reveal how they are, or are not, protected. Join us for the next session of our newest wellness offering, Well Minded Movement, on Thursday, May 2, 10:00 - 11:00 am. In this gentle movement class, you will experience a unique way of movement that is accessible for everyone. Classes continue through the end of May.

The Archive of the New Rochelle Public Library is a unique resource of documents relating to the history of New Rochelle. Our Archive is a repository of historical resources such as institutional and civic records, personal papers, and audiovisual materials. In 2023, the entire Photography Collection of the Archive was properly organized and described by our staff Archivist. This collection of over 15,000 photographic images portrays the city in penetrating detail from early public photography of the 1860s to modern digital photos. The “Archive Corner” will be a monthly feature to showcase our Photography Collection to provide a rare glimpse into the past. | |

Our Children Our Artists
The New Rochelle Public Library is excited to once again host the City School District of New Rochelle's "Our Children, Our Artists" exhibit. The exhibit, which showcases the artwork of students from the NR Public Elementary Schools (from May 3 - May 10), and the NR Secondary Schools (from May 17 - May 31) will be on display in the Lumen Winter Gallery during library hours.

Public Hearing on Proposed Budget and Board of Trustees Meeting
A public hearing on the New Rochelle Public Library’s proposed 2024-2025 Budget will take place on Thursday, May 2 at 7:00 pm in the library’s Ossie Davis Theater, before the May meeting of the library’s Board of Trustees, which will begin at 7:30 pm.
Recordings of Library Board of Trustee Meetings can be accessed on the NRPL website. They may also be viewed on Fios Cable channel 30 and Optimum Cable channel 77. The April 2024 meeting is currently airing daily at 12:00 , 3:00, and 6:00 pm.

The main branch of the Library will be closed on Sunday, May 12 in honor of Mother's Day. It will also be closed on Sunday, May 26 and Monday, May 27, 2024 for Memorial Day observances.
