About our Darsheh, Neil Grungras
A longtime friend of SZ, Neil began his career as an immigration lawyer in San Francisco and later moved to New York to work with HIAS, where he was director of the Europe and Middle East Bureau. He now lives in Tel Aviv with his Turkish husband and works as a Resettlement Liaison for a large refugee NGO in Istanbul, where he manages the EU-bound refugee resettlement program and helps run the US Department of State’s Refugee Assistance Program operations.
He will give us a queer Jewish humanitarian Pesach perspective on the ongoing refugee crisis in Turkey, and will discuss what is happening to the LGBTQ refugees attempting to survive in the aftermath of the recent catastrophes there. There will be a Q & A Zoom discussion after the service.

If you are unvaccinated, sick or experiencing any symptoms of illness, please enjoy services and events via Zoom.
As of April 3, 2023, masks are no longer required at in-person services and events. But we are mask-friendly and fully supportive of visitors, members and service leaders who choose to wear masks for their own personal protection.
Sha’ar Zahav is a scent-free environment. Because keeping our synagogue safe for those with scent and chemical sensitivities is part of our commitment to accessibility, please refrain from wearing perfume/cologne or using other scented products.

Our in-person Passover Seder has been filled to capacity. No walk-ins please but email Susie if you'd like to be on our waitlist. If you've registered for our in-person Seder but can no longer make it, please let us know.
Our Zoom Passover Seder, however, is still open for all to join! It'll be a highly participatory Seder. Members and non-members alike are invited!
