THE ARC OF THE UNITED STATES reports that on June 8th, three Representatives of the U.S. House of Representatives, reintroduced the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Restoration Act (H.R.3763). The bill would enhance the SSI program by updating the general income disregard to $123 per month, adjusting the earned income disregard to $399 per month, and increasing the resource limits to $10,000 for an individual and $20,000 for a couple. Congress has not adjusted these limits in many years.
Spotlight on Housing, Supports & Services

Thanks go out to a parent member of CRAAG's 24/7 Supports Work Group for sharing a link to the position statement from the National Council on Severe Autism on Federal and State Housing Policies. The Council writes, "Given the immense and growing need for appropriate and affordable housing, NCSA believes housing policies on all levels — federal, state, and local — should aim to remove barriers and unleash new options and capacity."

About CRAAG

CRAAG began in 2010 in collaboration with CA Human Services (formerly Commonwealth Autism). CRAAG’s mission is to raise awareness and enhance the quality of life for people with autism, developmental disabilities, and their families in Charlottesville City, Albemarle, Greene, Fluvanna, Louisa and Nelson counties. As a volunteer action group, our members are families, self-advocates, and professionals who are interested in all age groups and levels of need. The daily concerns of CRAAG's active volunteers inform our focus on the needs of students transitioning out of high school, adults throughout the lifespan, and their families. Our advocacy is person-centered and aimed at maximizing housing, supports, services, meaningful employment, social connectivity, and community engagement.
