Hi Friends!
Last week I had to privilege of spending a week in Asheville, North Carolina with a group of our high schoolers during their mission trip. We truly had an incredible week serving, growing, learning, and exploring together! We served at a variety of sites including Black Mountain Home for Children where we learned about the foster care system and current challenges they are facing, specifically in Western Carolina. We went to Christmount Camp, which provides an adapted camp that allows those with varying needs to experience camp. And we spent time at Haywood Street Congregation, arguably our favorite site, which serves the houseless population in Asheville. Their motto is "Holy Chaos" and we were able to see how God moves through ALL people as we spent time in relationship with our friends living outside.
We learned SO much, including the difference between charity and mutual aid, and what we can do at All Saints' to be a welcoming community to everyone. Check-out all of our pictures on the Y'All Saints Intagram page (@yall.saints.atl)
I hope all of our high schoolers will sign-up for our upcoming High School Fall Retreat (registration is below) and that these lessons and relationships will continue to grow!
Peace,
Hope
