Thursday, July 27, 2023 - 2023 - 2024 Youth Programing

From Fr. Oswald

Dear Friends in Christ,

We are excited to announce that Christ Church will be collaborating with four other congregations in the diocese to offer High School Formation programming. The churches we are partnering with are St. Paul Milwaukee, Trinity Wauwatosa, St. Thomas of Canterbury, and St. Mark’s Milwaukee.

The goal is to bring youth together for personal growth, spiritual exploration, and meaningful connections. There will be engaging activities and events and there will be opportunities for faith exploration. The meetings will take place at St. Paul, Milwaukee once a month on Sunday afternoon from 5 – 7 p.m. The gathering will include a meal. Each of the five parishes will take one Sunday to lead the youth in activity. The program will begin in September and conclude in June with a one day service project.

Since the meetings are once a month, we will supplement these meetings with our own once a month meeting to discuss important tops that touch the lives of many youths. Please consider being part of the youth group programing for the upcoming year.

The middle school youth will continue using “ancestors” curriculum and will continue to meet twice a month. High school and Middle school calendars will be posted on the church website. A signup sheet will be posted. Please encourage youth youths to sign up.

Blessings to all,

Oswald+

Be encouraged!... to bring your own lawn chair to the Sunday Garden Service. If you forget, feel free to go inside and grab an additional chair if needed.

Week 9: Summer Creation Care:

Climate Justice as Racial Justice

12 weeks of Questions to Ponder and Act Upon

The impacts of climate justice falls unevenly on different communities. Communities who do the least to contribute to climate crisis have to bear the impacts first and worst. The climate crisis is jeopardizing the health and well-being of our most vulnerable neighbors around the world and in the United States. For one example, regions like Uganda and Chad now have regular record breaking flooding and droughts. We can go deeper in our journey by taking action for the well-being of our climate-affected neighbors.

Questions to ponder and act upon:

1 How is climate justice also racial justice?

2    In what ways do we (personally or communally) ignore this when we practice "creation care"?

3 How does our understanding of climate justice change when we understand that Black, Indigenous, and other people of color are most affected by climate change?
