This event brings educators, counselors, non-profits and community leaders together for a morning of updated local labor market information, resource sharing and networking.  There is no cost for the Summit so plan now to attend!

The Summit will begin at 7:30 am with a breakfast followed by a review of WIB-sponsored Youth Activities. Scott J. Sheely, Executive Director of the Lancaster County Workforce Investment Board, will present an Overview of the Local Labor Market.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) focuses on work-based learning as a means to create a pipeline of skilled workers.  Providing these experiences for youth presents administrative and logistical challenges that can become obstacles to successful implementation.   A Business and Education Panel will discuss work-based learning opportunities such as job shadowing, internships, co-ops, apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs.   We will look at some local Business-Education partnerships where work-based learning is preparing students to successfully enter the workforce.
