Fall is in the Air

Fall is in the air and students in our preschool and PK were busy this week studying the changing seasons. Students also enjoyed learning about Johnny Appleseed, apple trees, and apples. Some delicious homemade applesauce was enjoyed at the end of the unit.

Beta Club Supports the St. Thaddeus Soup Kitchen

As a student-centered organization, National Beta Club seeks ways to develop students by providing opportunities and experiences that demonstrate the ideals of achievement, character, leadership, and service. It is committed to recognizing high academic achievement, as well as rewarding and nurturing worthy character.

A big thank you to middle school and upper school students for bringing peanut butter and jelly for Beta Club! The WINNER of the competition to bring in the most jars is our MIDDLE SCHOOL who brought in 118 jars of peanut butter! Thanks also to the upper school who brought in 23 jars of jelly. The Middle School received a free dress down day today, September 29th. The peanut butter and jelly will benefit the St. Thaddeus Soup Kitchen. The Soup Kitchen serves a meal to those in need every Saturday in the Large Parlor (STC Cafeteria). Thank you again to everyone for your generosity!

COVID-19

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC) and the federal government are treating COVID-19 as an endemic virus.  The term “endemic” refers to a disease that is circulating in a community at an expected or normal level, minus an occasional outbreak(for example, the flu).

Faculty or students testing positive for COVID-19 should stay home for 5 days after symptoms begin. You may return to school after 5 day isolation, if symptoms improve and you are fever free for 24 hours.  Wear a mask for days 6-10. If you test negative on day 6 and day 8 you do not have to wear a mask. Faculty and students should notify the Director of Student Health Amy Calfee- acalfee@meadhallschool.org, or another administrator if you test positive for Covid-19

Mead Hall will report COVID-19 outbreaks to SC DHEC. Per DHEC an outbreak is 20% or more of the children/students/staff within a shared setting* (i.e., a classroom, shared childcare room, sports team, or other group) are identified as having COVID-19, or absent or sent home due to COVID-19 within 72 hours of each other.  The faculty, staff and students in this shared setting will be notified of an outbreak.  Community and close contact notification will not be given as we continue to move forward with this endemic virus.

We continue to encourage all students, faculty and staff to stay home when sick.
