Names will be listed in the Easter Day Order of Service.
The deadline for having names listed in the Order of Service is Wednesday, April 18.
St. Matthew's Endowment Board
Grant Applications Now being accepted -- Deadine for submission is Apil 15
This year the St. Matthew’s Endowment Fund has $21,916 to award as grants. The purpose of the grants is to enhance the worship, ministry and/or outreach mission of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, including within the Interior Deanery. Grants are not used for items or activities covered by the general operating budget of St. Matthew’s but may be used for special projects and to begin new programs or initiatives. Applicants do not need to be members of St. Matthew’s but the purpose of the grant must further one or more of the goals of the fund.

In past years grants have supported programs to provide food and other items to those in need, worship materials and support, ministry in Interior churches and communities, theological and ministry training and workshops, etc.

The instructions for applying are available on the Church website, link below, or from the church office; call 907-456-5235 or email (email to admin) if you would like an Application Packet mailed to you.
Please send applications by mail to:
St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church
1030 2nd Avenue
Fairbanks, Alaska 99701
The Deadline for Applications is April 15 -- if you send your application by USPS, please allow sufficient time for it to be received by the deadline. If you choose to drop your application packet off at the Church, please call first to be sure someone will be available to receive it from you – you will be required to wear a mask as you deliver the packet.

Help for the people of Ukraine
UPDATE #2: Due to your generosity, we were able to send $1,700.00 to Episcopal Relief and Development this week, to support those affected by the violence in Ukraine!!
If you would like to donate, you may continue to drop checks off at the church office, or when you come for Holy Communion, and we will send it in!

Friends, if you’re wondering how to support the people affected by the violence in Ukraine, Episcopal Relief and Development has issued this statement:
Please Pray!
If you would like to send financial support, you can send checks made out to St. Matthew’s, with a notation that it is for ERD’s humanitarian assistance in Ukraine…and we will combine all the donatoins into one check and send it along. You can also drop donations off when you come through Drive-Through Communion, or in our secure mail box to the left of the 2nd Avenue Office Door (the mail box is on the wall above the brown bin).
Thank you for your generosity and prayers for peace.
Centering Prayer
UPDATE: We are grateful that our first two groups went so well! And we know that some wanted to attend, but were unable to -- this is the kind of Prayer Group that works even if you have to miss some! So, please feel free to join us on Wednesdays in Lent at 5:30! Call Jessica for the zoom information (or reply to this eBlast by email, and she'll get you the info)...

Are you looking for a way to deepen your prayer life? Are you seeking a new Lenten discipline to practice in 2022?  Although we are facilitating the Centering Prayer Group from St. Matthew's, everyone is welcome if they are interested in practicing (or learning about) this kind of prayer.

We are offering a 7-week Centering Prayer Group, via Zoom. Mother Betty, Canon Suzanne Krull from the Diocesan Office and St. Matthew’s parishioner Emily Low will be the facilitators for the Centering Prayer Group and invite you to join them on:

Wednesday afternoons, at 5:30pm, beginning March 9.

We will be providing more information each week – if you would like a brochure describing Centering Prayer, reply to this eBlast, and we will send you one. You can also access information about this Group particularly, and see how our time together will flow, at this Link:

Each Group meeting will last approximately 30-45 minutes, and we will send the Zoom link on Monday, March 7. If you are interested in joining us, but are a bit wary of using Zoom, please call Jessica in the office (456-5235, ext 4) and she will help you feel more comfortable with the platform!
Lenten Evening Prayer
We are grateful that Helen and David Burrell have agreed to offer Evening Prayer again this year -- on the Thursdays in Lent, at 5:30PM, streamed on our FB Live page. Please join us!
Online Giving
THANK YOU to all who have continued to support the life and ministries of St. Matthew's during this Pandemic challenge! With your generosity, we have been able to continue our ministries of, among others, offering cold weather gear to those who need, offer food for the hungry, upgrade our ability to offer live-streamed services 5-6 days a week, and offer support and 'connection to many in Fairbanks and beyond!

However, as you can imagine, donations to the church have dropped off some over this time, and we so appreciate your continuing to give as you can!

That said, we are aware that these are difficult, unpredictable times for everyone, and we know that for some there is financial and job insecurity. Please let us know if there is a way for us to help you.

Several parishioners have asked how they can get their offerings to the church, since we are not having our usual in-person services. There are several ways to donate now: 1) through snail-mail: 1030 2nd Avenue, Fairbanks, AK 99701; or 2) you can drop your donation in our locked, secure mailbox at the office door on 2nd Avenue; or 3) you can use the ‘Donate Now’ button just below, (that is our on-line option). Know that we remain so grateful for your support of St. Matthew’s!
