LINDA GRITZMACHER

On Tuesday, May 28, the WAWM School District recognized Program Manager Linda Gritzmacher for her 30 years of Service to the district, our department and the West Allis & West Milwaukee communities. Linda's passion for serving and helping others is unmatched. Linda has served the Recreation & Community Service Department over the years in a number of different roles and capacities but her leadership, commitment and pursuit of making her programs and the department the best around, has never changed. Our team often jokes that there are very few people in West Allis & West Milwaukee that don't know Linda, have worked for her, been in her programs, or have her phone number.
We are thrilled to celebrate a remarkable milestone—30 years of dedicated service with the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District and the Recreation & Community Services Department. Linda, your unwavering commitment, passion, and hard work have touched countless lives and made a lasting impact on our community. Thank you for your extraordinary contributions and here’s to many more successful years ahead!

SUMMER OUTDOOR MOVIE SERIES

Be our guest for a family movie experience. Enjoy quality family time in front of a video display similar to the American Family Field’s scoreboard (just on a smaller scale) in the park. The movies will start promptly at 8pm (the sun is not an issue for the display). Arrive early to save your spots and enjoy some play time with Operation Recreation. Feel free to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the evening under the stars with your family.

REC ON THE RUN
MOBILE PLAY UNITS

Rec on the Run is bringing fun to your neighborhood playgrounds and parks this summer. We're running throughout West Allis and West Milwaukee with Operation Recreation and Crafts in the Parks to entertain your child in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
Rec on the Run staff will be at designated locations during assigned times. (*Schedules may change pending program participation.)
Please note, that there is no supervision at the locations before Rec on the Run’s arrival and after the program leaves the location.

Operation Recreation will feature our Imagination Playground Big Blue Blocks, agility ladders and hurdles, rolling wheels, hula hoops and more. | Crafts in the Parks will have organized craft projects and activities planned for the children. | Check out our schedule at wawmrec.com to make sure you don’t miss out! | |
Summer Sprouts Camp is the perfect place for your child to be active, be outside, meet new friends, learn and create! During this 9-week camp, each week will feature a different theme: circus, storybook, robot, dinosaurs and so much more. These fun themes will be explored through story time, arts and crafts, projects, organized games and outside free play with instructors. Children MUST be able to provide self-care including using the restroom. All children must be signed in and out by an adult. No camp 7/4 & 7/5. If you would like, your child can stay throughout the day and pack a lunch and a drink for a full day session. Note: lunch is not provided, so if you would like to attend the full day option without leaving the Recreation Center, you must bring your own. If you choose to eat lunch at home, please join us as the fun continues after a break for a second daily session!

SUMMER ACTION ADVENTURES CAMP | |
Join the adventure this summer! Our summer camps provide a fun, inclusive and safe environment for 11 weeks. Students will learn beyond the boundaries and grow daily through a series of games, activities, crafts and much more centered around a weekly theme. Camps will also go on bi-weekly field trips. Flyers will be emailed out on Friday for the following week. Breakfast and lunch included.
FEES:
Early Bird Fee: Register before 5pm on Thursday for the following week: $120 RES/$180 NR per week
Register from Thursday 5pm-Sunday 5pm for Monday that week: $130 RES/$195 NR per week
Register after 5pm Sunday the eve before camp begins on Monday: $140 RES/$210 NR per week

Camp at Nathan Hale High School
KIDS ON THE RUN: Summer Camp at Nathan Hale High School offers “Kids on the Run.” If you sign your child up for swim lessons during camp hours, camp staff will assist getting your child to and from the program. Please let the camp staff know they are enrolled in the swim lessons and check camp schedule for any field trips or special events that may conflict. Please see youth aquatics class options starting on page 4 (additional fees apply).
SWIMMING: Hale campers will have the opportunity to swim during camp from 11am-12:30pm. Campers will have to pass a swim test in order to swim in the deep end. Campers that cannot pass that test, will be limited to the shallow end of the pool.
GREENFIELD PARK: Hale camp staff leads campers daily on a walking field trip to Greenfield Park.

NEXTREX RECYCLING CHALLENGE COMPLETED! | |
The WAWM RCS Recreational Adult Day Program - RAD has achieved its goal of collecting 1000 lbs of plastic! A massive thank you to our community for helping them achieve this milestone. They are thrilled to have been able to make an impact in our environment and be able to create a bench made out of recycled plastic!
Please kindly note the Recreation Center is no longer collecting plastic.

A big thank you to everyone who supported the first-ever RAD Goes All-In(clusive) Lap-a-thon & Hoop-a-thon! Thanks to all for your support, over $2,400 has been raised to purchase a communication board for the park at the Recreation Center.

Stop by Café RAD, located inside the Recreation Center - 2450 S. 68th St. on Mondays & Wednesdays this JUNE. Our Recreational Adult Day Program (RAD) manages Café RAD, which helps provide them with real-world experiences. They'll learn math and communication skills, manage money and supplies, and teamwork. Café RAD is made possible through the support of our community.

| Take away the stress of family meal prep, relax and enjoy a meal together as a family and as a community. Each mealtime, we will include valuable nutritional information and family activities. Nutritional education will be provided, along with take-home tools, tips, and resources by the West Allis Health Department. This program is open to families with children ages 18 and younger. The WAWM Youth Swim Team is a great way to meet other swimmers, improve your skills and compete against one another. The team welcomes swimmers with any history in swimming. Whether you are here to win races or just stay in shape, you will find a place in the WAWM Youth Swim Team. Join us this summer and discover the benefits of being on a team.

Pet owners, Roger and Anita, live happily in London with their Dalmatians, Pongo and Perdita, stalwart dogs devoted to raising their puppies. Intermediate/High School Musical - Legally Blonde JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle's boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she's not "serious" enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren't mutually exclusive.
