Georgina will continue to support entrepreneurship start-ups and growth until 2026 through programming

We are excited to announce that York University's YSpace, the Town of Georgina and the Town of East Gwillimbury are extending our partnership programming for another two years. On April 4, the province announced $150,000 in funding from the Rural Economic Development Fund (RED) program that will assist us in continuing to support new and existing businesses in reaching their entrepreneurial goals. 


In 2023, YSpace programming supported more than 700 entrepreneurs through six programs in Georgina, East Gwillimbury and surrounding areas. To learn about training and mentorship opportunities, visit georgina.ca/YSpace.

Georgina to implement a Tourism and Wayfinding Strategy to increase economic impact of tourism

On April 10, Council endorsed a new Wayfinding and Tourism Strategy that outlines the objectives, types of signage being proposed, and direction for a phased implementation of tourism and wayfinding signage throughout the municipality.


The new strategy aims to promote tourist travel throughout the community and enhance the Town's aesthetic appeal through the implementation of clear and uniform signage that identifies major tourist attractions and economic hubs.

Grant applications are open for the final intake of the ECCB program that supports 2024 events and projects

Are you preparing to host a spectacular festival or initiative that will enrich our culture, foster community growth, or make a positive economic impact? Look no further! The Town's Economic, Culture and Community Betterment Grant Program is ready to support your endeavours and transform your vision into reality.


Eligible applicants could receive up to 50 per cent of their total eligible expenses, up to a maximum of $5,000. The first intake supported 13 recipients in the amount of $34,250. Apply to the second and last intake for 2024 by May, 31 2024.

Business Improvement Area grants provide incentive for downtown revitalization

Since 2015, the Town of Georgina has offered grants to business owners and commercial property owners within defined business areas in Keswick, Jackson's Point and Sutton through the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) program.


These grants are intended to improve the downtown business improvement areas that have been identified as opportunities for revitalization. Eligible applicants can apply for facade, heritage, landscape and accessibility improvement grants and receive up to $5,000 or 50 per cent of the cost of their improvement, whichever is less.

What began in the Chetty family's home has evolved into a thriving business that not only embodies entrepreneurial spirit but also highlights the appeal of Georgina as an ideal place to do business.

 

Patrick, originally from Guyana, started his journey almost 20 years ago, right here in Georgina. From humble beginnings crafting hot sauces at home, the business has expanded into a dedicated manufacturing space in Keswick, producing a delectable range of eight unique flavours and a jerk seasoning.
