C OVID-19 RESPONSE WEEKLY UPDATE

FROM: Jeannie Montano , President & CEO, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region

United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region responds to COVID-19 in our community. We are using your donations immediately to provide critical help daily.
This week . . .

  • We are feeding 1,000 people in a neighborhood that's in desperate need in our community.

  • On National Doctor's Day, we said thanks to our frontline medical staff and had pizzas delivered to the Emergency Room staff at Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.

  • We are providing support to frontline first responders and healthcare workers by partnering with Orange Regional Medical Center to provide books to healthcare workers' children and essential pop-up daycare.

  • We purchased toilet paper and cleaning and disinfecting supplies that a local domestic violence shelter desperately needed, so now female survivors can remain safe and healthy.

  • We used $2,500 to purchase 100 grocery store gift cards for struggling college students.

  • We are providing a food pantry the ability to deliver food for 2,000 meals for families doubly-impacted by this crisis.

  • We are providing diapers and essential items for parents in our community.

  • United Way's 2-1-1 Helpline has received over 6,500 COVID-19 related calls and more are received every hour.

  • We are connecting volunteers with meal delivery opportunities in our community.

and we are continuing to respond to the daily needs of our community as the situation evolves.
