2023 Club Championships – Call for Club Hosting Assistance

FHBC is seeking expressions of interest from Community Clubs able and willing to support the HOSTING of this year's Club Championship Program. The 2023 Program still requires Club Hosts to come forward in all categories, as well as the need for venues to be secured for the Under 16 and Under 14 Girls Divisions.


Club Hosts would be required to support the following for any Club Championship Division or Tier (noting that some of these requirements are also undertaken by FHBC for targeted Championships at the Under 18 level in particular):


  • Facility Set-Up and Take-Down Support
  • Technical Officiating Support (Match Management, Timing and Score Keeping)
  • Game Day Officials Support and Coordination
  • Game Day Team Support and Coordination
  • Coordination of Presentations
  • Submission of Results (for FHBC Posting)
  • Submission of Expense Receipts to FHBC (as may be eligible)

2023 Indoor Tournaments

Cowichan hosted the U18 & the Senor Women’s Indoor tournaments in February. Congratulations to all participating teams, volunteers and everyone that made this event a success!

2023 Masters Festival in Calgary

The 2023 Canada Day Masters Festival will be held in Calgary, from June 23-25, and is open to teams or individual players from accross Canada!


To gauge interest in this year's festival, the organizers have sent out an Expression of Information (EOI) form that needs to be completed by February 21. Feel free to include any questions you might have in the EOI or email Lori Gaffney, Masters Festival Chair, at mastersfestivalcalgary@gmail.com.


Festival Details:

  • Festival dates are June 23-25, at Hawkings Field, University of Calgary
  • Age category is 40+, with the opportunity to have a maximum of 2 underaged players (37+)
  • Level of play will be semi-competitive, a healthy blend of good competition and fun
  • Seeking 4-5 men's and 4-5 women's teams
  • The format will be 7 v 7 (6 field players and a goalie)
  • Entry fee will be approximately $110 (CAD) per person, which includes a minimum of 4 games, a social event on Saturday night, a tournament gift and a drink ticket for use at the beer garden
  • All participants must also have FHC (Field Hockey Canada) insurance

Krista Thompson is the new Head Coach of the Vikes women's field hockey team!

Congratulations to Krista Thompson, long time Vancouver Island Regional and Team BC coach, on her appointment as Head Coach of the Vikes women's field hockey team!


Krista has been with the Vikes since 1997 and, following the retirement of legendary coach Lynne Beecroft, will lead the program in the 2023-24 season.

Metro Vancouver Pro League

Sports & Leadership Conference

The Metro Vancouver Pro League is hosting a Sports & Leadership Conference planned for Friday, March 10, 2023. There will be several talented people within our field hockey community speaking at this event aimed at supporting athletes and coaches!

Donate and help support field hockey!

KidSport


KidSport provides financial assistance for children 18 and younger from families facing financial obstacles to participate in organized sport #SoALLKidsCanPlay. Visit kidsport.ca and find your local Chapter for details on eligibility and how to help this project.


In 2021, the KidSport BC program distributed $1.3 million in funding to help 4,164 children participate in 45 different sports in 132 communities across the province, including field hockey participants. Help support KidSport and, if you are in need of assistance, reach out to your local Chapter!
