A Night to Remember:
The Hopes & Dreams Gala
|
On October 19, Judge Baker Children's Center held it's biennial Hopes & Dreams Gala at
the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts
. The Gala was an opportunity to celebrate JBCC's commitment to improving child mental health and to honor key individuals who have helped contribute to this mission, like longtime supporter and Gala Honoree,
Dick Glovsky
.
|
After cocktails,
NBC10 Boston's Latoyia Edwards
, took to the stage as Emcee to kick things off. Her charismatic personality and high energy got the crowd excited for what was to come.
|
|
Guests enjoyed a delicious three-course meal, thanks to professional chef and Boston local,
Gordon Hamersley
, and
Gourmet Caterers
. During dinner,
the Boston Children's Chorus
, took center stage and delivered a show-stopping performance.
Next,
Robyn Heisey
, the parent speaker, shared her family’s emotional journey, and how Judge Baker helped them through. She emphasized the need to keep the conversation going around children’s mental health.
|
|
After hearing from Robyn, guests had the opportunity to bid on two exciting live auction items: tickets to a Bruin's game alongside legendary
former Bruins player Bobby Orr
(in his private box!) and a taping of
Late Night with Seth Myers
and dinner with
Congressman Adam Schiff
. At the end of the auction,
President and CEO Robert P. Franks
joined Latoyia onstage for the live appeal. Guests donated on their phones and watched their gifts raise the donation thermometer in real time.
All in all, their generosity helped Judge Baker raise nearly $600,000 in support of children’s mental health!
After dinner,
Honoree Dick Glovsky
came forward to address the crowd, closing the evening by sharing his commitment to Judge Baker and the importance of caring for children.
|
|
Even as guests began to filter out of the venue, the sense of accomplishment and community lingered. It is an incredible feeling to know that there are so many passionate people who are genuinely invested in improving mental health for children.
Thank you to all who were able to attend, especially our Trustees, staff, honorees, special guests, and volunteers!
The funds raised at the Gala will directly impact the lives of children who are desperately in need of critical mental health services.

#MakeYourImpact on Giving Tuesday
|
|
Giving Tuesday takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving on December 3rd and is a day meant to encourage the community to donate to worthy causes. Giving Tuesday is all about collaboration and the power of social media. Modern technology makes it easy to communicate a singular message to thousands of people at once, including a request for contributions to a non-profit organization. This connection is meant to pass from person to person and create a sense of generosity and togetherness.
Judge Baker was proud to launch a Giving Tuesday campaign this year focusing on the theme of impact. Donations directly impact the services we are able to provide. This level of impact is a powerful tool that can be used to truly make a difference in the lives of those who need support. We encouraged the community to post on social media using the hashtag #MakeYourImpact to show us how dedicated they are to supporting children and families in need.
In order to broaden the reach of this message, we created a video series of each of our program directors discussing what sort of impact a donation would have on their programs. Thank you to everyone who participated this year!
