MCCF Board of Directors at the groundbreaking ceremony

GROUNDBREAKING CELEBRATION!

A recent groundbreaking ceremony kicked off the construction and renovation of the new Montgomery County Early Learning Center. This transformational community project will provide 124 high-quality childcare seats for infants through age five. The Center is located in the former county government office building located at 110 W South Boulevard, Crawfordsville, IN. The building will be completely remodeled and adapted to meet and exceed state licensing requirements.

KinderCare will operate the Early Learning Center. KinderCare provides high-quality education to children in a safe and reliable environment with qualified staff. They have more than 50 years of experience providing early childhood care and education combined with expertise in child development and research-based curriculum designed specifically for young children. KinderCare also has the most nationally accredited early learning centers of any private provider in the country. Patrick Murray, KinderCare Vice President, stated, “This center and the incredible leadership by MCCF to make this partnership possible, will undoubtedly serve as a model to communities across the country. I cannot tell you how proud and honored we are to have been selected to serve the growing families and support the growing economy here in Montgomery County.” Patrick is featured in above photo.

The Center is an example of positive change for our community, and one that will provide benefits that reach far into the future. This $5 million investment is only possible through the unique partnership of businesses, government, and philanthropy working together to create long-term, sustainable solutions to meet the critical need for additional high-quality childcare. We are thrilled to announce that due to the remarkable generosity of our donors, we received a matching fund grant of $750,000 from Lilly Endowment Inc.! Last fall we announced an incredible opportunity for our donors to significantly increase the impact of their charitable gifts, and make a real difference in our community. During the eighth phase of Lilly Endowment Inc.'s GIFT (Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow) initiative, every $1 gift made to any MCCF unrestricted fund received a $2 match. Our donors gave generously to meet the match and we are so grateful!

Building our unrestricted endowment will allow us more flexibility and a greater capacity to address critical needs as they arise in our community. GIFT VIII has the potential to significantly impact our community for many years to come. "Our donors responded to the Lilly GIFT VIII matching gift opportunity in tremendous ways. We thank each and every donor for their gifts and contributions to improving the quality of life in Montgomery County." - Kelly Taylor, CEO.

FAMILY FUN DAY

Family Fun Day was a roaring success! Meeting and greeting Daniel Tiger, courtesy of WFYI, was a highlight for kids young and old. Approximately 600 people attended the first ever Family Fun Day at Crawfordsville High School.

Families enjoyed hands-on activities, story and music time, Touch-a-Truck, and browsing over 25 community resource booths. Give aways, free snacks, and free books provided by Random House added to the fun festivities.

Family Fun Day was sponsored by the Montgomery County Early Childhood Coalition, a leadership initiative of MCCF.
