All of us at Seeds of Light wish you and your family well over the  Festive Season .

This year has been full of new beginnings.  During an inspiring planning meeting early this year, a new priority was identified. The many AIDS orphans in the Acornhoek area are growing up and need to become productive adults.
 
As this is difficult for the children given the poor educational opportunities in the rural areas of South Africa, Seeds of Light has identified several ways to help bridge the gap between a vulnerable child and an adult able to support their community!
 

The new programs developed and  implemented  over this year have proven to be life changing for these youngsters.
 
You should have received a copy of our latest newsletter. In this newsletter, information is given on all the exciting new programs and initiatives that Seeds of Light have been busy with over the year.  (If you did not receive a copy of the newsletter, please see here!)

H elp us expand these wonderful new programs 
in 2017: 
  1.  We would love to open another Cub and Scout group in an adjacent area to reach more children with this productive and life-altering program. 
  2. The HIV and Reproductive Health Program could greatly benefit another two primary schools and another high school. Training up 2 more groups of Peer Educators -- and including boys in this important program -- would provide a significant impact in the youth community. The HIV infection rate is remarkably high in our young women. This is directly related to gender inequality and addressing this is an important part of our program. 
  3. The Girl's Education Program focuses on another gender difference -- in education. Please help us to increase our numbers next year to accommodate more girls who are showing leadership potential. Let us give the girls a chance to shine!
  4. Please help us to distribute another 500 Dignity Dreams washable and reusable sanitary pad packs that are not only environmentally friendly but last a girl 5 years (the whole of her high school career). We need to keep our girls in school!
  5. Our very successful Art Program is also expanding next year. Art is not just important as a creative outlet for talented artists but a chance for all the children to gain self-esteem and excercise self-expression.  From next year, we wish to have 4-5 art classes a week for children from 4-20 years.

Give our children the chance to succeed!
  1. $12 will buy one girl a washable and reusable sanitary pad pack to last her 5 years.
  2. $25 will assist one girl with Education Support for one month.
  3. $50 will help the Cub and Scout group to buy badges and supplies to run the weekly meetings.
  4. $100 will allow us to run a training program for the scout group.
  5. $200 will run one school Art class for one month.
