From the CEO's Desk

We hope you had a relaxing Family Day Weekend! The Chamber is busy preparing the final touches on the popular Membership Directory, and our March InTouch, as well as the MP/MPP Breakfast late next week, generously supported by our post-secondary partners, Wilfrid Laurier University, Conestoga College, and Six Nations Polytechnic. With Queen’s Park resuming siting this week, both the federal and provincial government’s Winter/Spring sessions are in progress. Look for a special Advocacy Edition of the E-News on Thursday this week!

The Chamber is excited to support the Brantford-Brant Business Resource Centre and their upcoming events and activities – please check out their upcoming events and activities! The Chamber is pleased to support and promote the Summer Company and Starter Company Plus programs for entrepreneurs in the County of Brant, City of Brantford, and neighbouring region.

Tomorrow is International Mother Language Day at the Brantford Public Library. There is a drop-in celebratory event for this day from 1-5 pm in the library’s main open space (the second-floor open space). You are invited to come and share community resources around language and education or, feel free to connect with them to pick up resources which they can put on display at the event. Light refreshments will be provided. As part of the Brantford Immigration Partnership, the Chamber is pleased to bring awareness to this event.

The Board of Directors meets tomorrow at noon, and our Business Excellence Awards Committee in the afternoon. A busy week!

Take care,

Dave

Resources from the Canadian Women's Chamber of Commerce regarding Black History Month

This February, CanWCC celebrates the rich culture of Black Canadians during Black History Month while acknowledging the ongoing disparities in housing, health, and economic inclusion.

To better support the Black members of our community, they have compiled a list that includes resources to help educate and support Black business owners and entrepreneurs beyond Black History Month. This list includes resources and tools to help everyone learn about Black history, support and funding programs for Black business owners, and resources to foster more allyship.

Changes and Walkthrough: The Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP)

Changes to the CDAP Program. What you need to know and how to apply.

On February 13, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s (OCC) CDAP team will be hosting an hour-long webinar from 11:30 to 12:30 P.M. to discuss recent changes to the program as well as a general discussion about how to apply to the program.

CDAP has recently made changes to the expense eligibility requirements for the program. Based on the feedback we have received, applicants will now be able to apply for funding solely for search engine Optimization (SEO) or SEO in conjunction with marketing-related activities*.

If you had previously applied for funding and been declined based on the inclusion of SEO in your application, you may now be eligible.

OCC's CDAP Team, Program Director Joanne Sare, and Program Manager Peter Greenall, will guide you through the application process, followed by a Q&A session, ensuring you have all the tools and knowledge you need to successfully apply to the program.

The webinar will cover:

  • What is CDAP and how can the funding help my business?
  • What are the eligibility requirements?
  • Is my business eligible?
  • What costs are eligible?
  • What are the new changes to the program?
