From the Klein Collection: Oil Lamp

The top finial of this 18th-century Italian lamp has the crests of two Italian families: the Sulam (the ladder) and the Delmonte (the sky scene). Why do you think both crests would be on one piece? One possible explanation is that this could have been a wedding present, so having both crests would symbolize their union!

Want to learn more about the Klein Collection or schedule a group tour? Contact Abby Magariel at curator@bnaijehudah.org for more information.
