Tiffany Haddish is quickly establishing herself as one of the most sought-after comedic talents in television and film. Haddish was most recently seen starring in Universal’s Girls Trip. Girls Trip had the highest opening for an R rated comedy in the past two years and VanityFair.com called Haddish “the funniest woman alive.” In August she debuted her comedy special for Showtime titled Tiffany Haddish: SHE READY! From the Hood to Hollywood and she will next be seen starring alongside Tracy Morgan in the new TBS show, The Last O.G. Additionally, she is currently in production alongside Kevin Hart for Universal’s Night School and will be releasing her first book The Last Black Unicorn in Dec which will be a collection of autobiographical essays about Haddish’s journey through life, comedy and inspiring others.
Previously, she was a series regular on NBC’s The Carmichael Show and was seen co-starring alongside Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele in the film, Keanu. Her other film credits include diverse projects such as Meet the Spartans and the Lifetime drama Racing for Time. Her television credits include a recurring role on the Tyler Perry’s OWN soap opera series, If Loving You Is Wrong, Kevin Hart’s BET show Real Husbands of Hollywood and FOX’s New Girl.
ComedySportz, the ingenious improv show that pits two teams of quick-witted performers against each other in a balls-to-the-wall battle for comedy supremacy, has been around for 30 years -- which is long enough for it to have its own abbreviation (CSz) and tons of famous alumni, including Wayne Brady (Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Let's Make A Deal) and Jason Sudeikis (SNL, Horrible Bosses). Now coming to the Avenue Theater in the Mile-High City, it works like this -- you and your fellow audience members provide suggestions to each squad, who throw down by coming up with scenes, bits and songs on the spot. Each show includes up to a dozen different improv games, out of a list of more than 100. A referee oversees the action, calling fouls (groan-worthy puns'll get you a flag) and keeping score. Yep, there are points and everything -- but the power to bestow winners and losers is ultimately in your hands. It's no laughing matter, except for the fact that it definitely is.

Popular stand-up comedian D L Hughley made the move to primetime television with his sitcom "The Hughleys" (ABC, 1998-2000; UPN, 2000-2002), based upon his own experiences moving from the inner-city to the suburbs. He proved a surprisingly capable actor with a welcome screen presence and his observant comedy translated well to the sitcom genre.
A former member of the notorious L.A. gang The Bloods, Hughley turned his life around after the murder of his cousin, a member of a rival gang. While working as a telemarketer for the circulation department of the Los Angeles Times, he was encouraged by his barber to enter a stand-up comedy contest, which led to bookings on the so-called 'Chitlin Circuit'. Hughley's good-natured barbs were well-received and he proved popular with audiences, notably in appearances on HBO's popular "Def Comedy Jam". Hughley served as the inaugural host of BET's "Comic View", staying with the show from 1992 through 1994. He reached even more viewers with the highly-rated special "HBO Comedy Half-Hour: D L Hughley" (1994) and as a regular on the short-lived "Double Rush" (CBS, 1995).

Troy Walker has quickly become one of Denver's most sought-after comedians!
A regular at Comedy Works, Walker has won the Comedy Works "New Faces" contest twice. After making his network TV debut on The Late Late Show, Troy has steadily racked up credits including VICE’s Flophouse and playing the role of “Don Lemon” on Fusion TV’s Trump vs. Bernie. He can be seen later this year on Fuse’s Uproarious. Troy was also just featured in a PetSmart commercial directed by Christopher Guest and starring Jane Lynch.
Walker has had the pleasure of opening for some of the most prominent comedians in the country. In addition to headlining clubs and colleges across the nation, Troy serves as a fine ambassador of Denver comedy at national and local comedy festivals including The Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival, The Great American Comedy Festival, and Portland's Bridgetown Comedy Festival. This show features guest comedians from across the country, and is based entirely off audience suggestions! Sit near the front and you might get pulled up on stage. Don't sit near the front and we'll probably still find ways to mess with you - no one is safe! Apparate Over for a Night of Magic!
Send out your owls! Hogwarts has been rebuilt and the future generations of magical children are all excited for a year at Hogwarts.
He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has been destroyed, there surely is no evil left to threaten the Heirs of Hogwarts... or is there?
Experience a loving homage to the world of Harry Potter. With completely improvised story lines, this is a heartfelt send-up to the universe created by J.K. Rowling and is the only Harry Potter themed improv show in Denver. Imagine a love letter in the form of spoof, and that’s what witches, wizards and muggles will be enjoying Friday Nights at 8:00 p.m. at the Bovine Metropolis Theater.
And just like a Bag of Bertie Bott’s every flavored beans, “Anything can happen,” says Gryffindor and Dramaturg, Kent Welborn. “In improv anything can happen, and then in the magical world of Harry Potter anything can happen double.”
All the things you love about the Harry Potter universe will be displayed on stage: charms, Hogwarts houses, transfiguration, and magical creatures. Returning to Hogwarts has never been this funny. “Heirs of Hogwarts: An Improvised Adventure” is a loving fan-fiction parody of an entire year at Hogwarts.
Expect, “Magic,” says Welborn.

When Rivalry Ignites Collaboration
The way to win Season 9 of Denver's Next Improv Star? Support your opponent. This seeming contradiction is at the heart of improv theater and a skill that every winner must demonstrate.
When you come to see this show you get to watch players collaborate to accomplish each week’s challenge, meanwhile competing to win the grand prize and title of Denver’s Next Improv Star. Without any preparation, contestants are thrown into a variety of games and situations and asked to complete specific tasks, like create an improv musical. The result is an unpredictable blend of comedy and drama.
Players are judged on creativity, improv skills, comedic timing, stage presence and a special focus on the expertise of that week’s Guest Judge. Every week Judges eliminate one contestant, while the others vie for prizes, like restaurant gift cards, theater tickets and indoor skydiving party packages, and the grand prize--being named Denver’s Next Improv Star.

The Ken Walker Sextet is a little like the full moon, except the KWS is more dependable and swings harder. The full moon arcs gracefully across the sky. It's nice, but does it make you snap your fingers? Walker and his band evoke (but don't demand) that response.

Reminiscent of the intricate process of coffee roasting, which involves fusing different country's beans into a perfect blend to create delicious beverages, Cafêzz seeks to hand over diverse sound impressions to the listener. The band's style is very eclectic, embracing a wide array of Caribbean, Brazilian, Latin, Jazz, Funk, Rock, Folk and Classical influences.
"Cafêzz" is, in fact, the combination of the words café (coffee in Spanish) and jazz, and it captures their notion that a customary coffee moment could also be an occasion to share music with friends.
Their original music presents an ample melodic content combined with tasty rhythms, giving the listener rich aural textures to enjoy with ease.
Boozy Take on the Bard's Greatest Romance
Fans of Drunk History and all its slurred education will fall over laughing at Sh*t-Faced Shakespeare, where an entirely serious Shakespeare play is performed with one entirely inebriated cast member. For the last eight years, Sh*t-Faced Shakespeare has been performed in the darkest corners and diviest bars in the U.K., and the cast is now bringing the good time to Austin. Side-splitting, raucous and completely interactive, this show enjoyed sell-out runs at the Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe festivals, where a cast member drinks beer, wine and whiskey on stage, drunkenly sings the Dawson's Creektheme song and occasionally (accidentally, of course) bares a nipple or two. Brush up on your Bard knowledge and head over to Spider House for a drunken twist on Romeo and Juliet, because this is Shakespeare as you never knew you wanted to see him before.

A little bit of Rock and Roll, Some Rhythm and Blues, a Hammond B3 Organ, and just a dash of swing is the recipe for some infectious groove set by the men and lady of the Red Hot Rhythm Rocket. "Listening to The Adam Bodine Trio is an audio feast of amalgamated sounds including jazz, classical, soul and pop, all blended seamlessly and performed with enthusiasm. Hearing them in person is a special treat as you never know what's coming next. The future of the jazz piano trio shines brightly under the guidance of Adam Bodine."

Ballet Ariel infuses new life into an ages-old tale. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is an original and fanciful production flawlessly danced by Ballet Ariel’s professional company.
Choreographed by Director Ilena Norton and her creative team, the Sorcerer’s Apprentice will beguile children of all ages, introducing them to the enduring art of ballet in an exciting and delightful afternoon spent with a bumbling apprentice, dancing goblins and pot and pans spinning out of control.
Inspired by the ages-old tale, Ballet Ariel performs this original work to Paul Dukas’s score made famous in Walt Disney’s Fantasia. Described as music gone wild, this spirited composition perfectly sets the stage as the little apprentice discovers the dangers that occur when power prevails over wisdom.
Excerpts from Princess Aurora’s Wedding in The Sleeping Beauty, will further captivate children, both young and old. Little Red Riding Hood and Puss In Boots will be joined by other favorite characters making for an enchanted interlude.
A Little Tea Party with the fair and lovely Princess Aurora and other costumed cast members following the performance is a special treat little one’s won’t want to miss.

“Company”, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth, debuted in 1970 under the direction of Harold Prince and orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. It was a unique departure from the “boy meets girl” formula of traditional Broadway fare, and challenged audiences by presenting a series of vignettes featuring rapid-fire, witty dialogue and sassy lyrics that didn’t always rhyme. Sondheim’s main character Bobby wrestles with the idea of commitment by examining the relationships of five couples who are his best friends. While he idealizes their lives, the reality that we see is more nuanced and complicated.

Gross Indecency traces the real-life trials of Oscar Wilde who, in 1895, was charged with “committing acts of gross indecency with other male persons.” This fascinating play uses real court transcripts and quotes of his three trials to help tell this powerful and poignant story.
About the show: In early 1895, the Marquess of Queensberry, the father of Wilde's young lover, Lord Alfred Douglas, left a card at Wilde's club bearing the phrase "posing somdomite." Wilde sued the Marquess for criminal libel. In the end Queensberry was acquitted, and evidence that had been gathered against Wilde compelled the Crown to prosecute him for "gross indecency with male persons."
