Structural Steel: An Industry Overview and Economic Forecast
This course will cover the economic conditions in the US and how it relates to the overall health of the construction industry. It will discuss different measurements and indices that are used to gauge where the market is headed and how that will affect construction activity. It will also discuss the evolving mix of the construction market in terms of what is getting built and the
materials being used.

This is a virtual presentation and will be held on Zoom. Attendees will be required to create a free Zoom account if they do not already have one, in order to access the webinar and receive CE credit.
Learning Objectives:
- Overview of where the US economy stands today and how the construction market relates
- Discuss different metrics used to measure the health of the construction industry, such as the Architectural Billing Index and Dodge Momentum Index
- Illustrate the types of projects beings built, how this has evolved, and what we would expect to see in the future
- An analysis of material usage and how that relates to supply, prices, and lead times.

The Structural Engineers Association of Illinois is pleased to announce the Assessment and Repair of Steel Building Structures Seminar! This seminar provides the background for investigating and repairing steel building structures from a forensics perspective and includes recent case studies to showcase repair applications. The presenters are a diverse group of industry leaders from Chicagoland and beyond. The seminar is designed for all professionals interested in the repair of steel structures.
Attendees can expect to:
- Learn practical information about steel metallurgy, welding, and bolting
- Learn about damage mechanisms and how to assess existing steel structures, including applying NDE techniques
- Learn methods for analyzing and repairing existing steel structures, including using code documents and FEA
- Learn experiences, best practices, and lessons learned from recent repair projects
Attendees will earn 6.5 hours of continuing education credit.
