Thank You to the GFWC Taunton and Raynham Junior Woman's Club

"On March 7, the members welcomed Linda Brosseau of Norton MA into the Club. The Club made soil/seed flower growing packets at the March meeting. They were dropped off at the Taunton Boys/Girls Club by Robin Gendron President of GFWC and Cindy Brogan.

Club members donated books to the Prison Book Program in Quincy MA. The members helped to pick and package books to be sent to the prisons.

Club members donated Dr. Seuss books, ribbons, crayons, and Dr. Suess coloring pages. Members put together gift packages for local schools. Members then volunteered to deliver the gift packages to 12 local schools for Dr. Seuss's Birthday."

Thank you so much to the people who make this possible, keep up the great work!

Historical Tidbit:
Raynham Iron Works

Iron works were the dominant industry in Raynham for more than two centuries. The importance that was attached to iron works is apparent from the town seal, which depicts the iron works along with the date 1652. The Raynham iron works were not the oldest in the state. Iron works in Lynn, Saugus, and Braintree were started prior to those in Raynham. However, the iron works in Raynham have the distinction of being the iron "manufactory" that was in continuous operation for the longest period of time. The iron works continued to operate in Raynham until 1873.

It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns and neighborhoods. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills.

Each local group is moderated by local volunteers (them's good people). Membership is free. Click the Freecycle button to find the nearest network.
