Visioning Process

Last week after coffee hour members of the Vision Committee gave a presentation to bring parishioners up to date on our process of imaging the future of St. Thomas as a true Village Church. They presented three main areas that we are exploring, based on the extensive input of the congregation in 2023. These three ideas are tied to and would build upon the ways in which we are living into our mission right now -- not new initiatives so much as expanding our ability to minister to the greater community.

Attached is a brief document describing these three areas. We will continue to update you and appreciate your feedback and participation in this work of discerning where the Spirit of God is leading us.

Want to explore more about the Bible? Interested in learning more about the Christian faith? Then consider joining next year's EfM classes. For us, EfM stands for "Exploring Faith Matters", which is what we do on a weekly basis from September through May. For more information, contact Linda Bergerson, Mentor at lpbergerson@gmail.com or Judi Fuller at judiannef@msn.com.

Conversational Spanish classes with Sara Pettit take place on Tuesdays through the end of May. We meet from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. All are welcome!

Women’s Wisdom Walks

Spring is here and it’s time to get outside!

The women of St. Thomas meet at the Sun Valley Post Office on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and walk to the Hemingway Memorial while sharing our ideas on the topic of the day, and whatever else strikes our fancy.

It’s a great way to get your steps in and deepen friendships. Put on your walking shoes and invite a friend!

Questions: Contact Mary Pat Gunderson at mgunder317@msn.com

Rector's Discussion Group

Jonah will resume the Rector's Discussion Group with a study of Diana Butler Bass' recent book Freeing Jesus.

The group meets via zoom on Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m. First session will be on Wednesday, May 8. If you are interested in participating, and/or would like a copy of the book please contact Stefanie (stefanie@stthomassv.org).

NEW DATE

Spring is here! And we are excited to bring back the Garden Angels ministry at St Thomas!

Join other men and women on Thursday mornings at 9:00am starting May 16th to work together for an hour or so maintaining our beautiful garden beds in the front of the church. No garden experience necessary…just a smiling face! Iced tea and lemonade will be provided!

And no need to commit to every Thursday. Even if you could join us for one gathering this summer, it would be much appreciated.

If you are interested or have any questions, please email Margot Shuford at r_shufor@bellsouth.net or call 404-293-0237.

We’ll put together a schedule after we hear from folks. Thank you!

Book Club

Our last meeting for the school year is May 13th at 1pm in the parish hall of St. Thomas. We will be discussing the best seller, The Women by Kristin Hannah. This book has received almost a full 5 star rating by Good Reads. Your Book Club Readers who have already read the book agreed you must be sure to have a box of tissues next to you as you read the book. A warning, the book may be hard to find. On Amazon the hardcover is available for $18.99, and you can download it for $14.99.
