Liz Hickey Announcement

It has been an honor to jump into the role of Children, Youth and Family Ministry Director over the last year. What a joy it has been working alongside the talented staff at St. Thomas. I have loved growing the youth group into a hefty group of teens and watching the boys dominate our Sunday School classroom while building us a city of Godly Play stories with Legos! Every Sunday is such a blessing and contains so many fun memories.

I have been offered a great opportunity to work with Cisco Systems. I can not thank you enough for the opportunity to spend time with your children and youth especially, to laugh, cry and share in so many experiences. I start my next chapter in July so my last day as employee will be on Sunday, July 28th.  I look forward to continuing to work with the flower guild, St. Thomas Playhouse Committee and sitting through a service with my husband. I’m not going anywhere because St. Thomas is my home!

Jonah is currently working with Sunday School teachers and youth volunteers to develop a plan to move f

We are pleased to announce that effective July 1, H Property Service will assume responsibility for the cleaning, regular maintenance and event set-up of St. Thomas. In 2023, it was decided that St. Thomas would seek the employment of a Sexton to oversee the upkeep of the building and grounds, starting on July 1, 2024. However, after careful consideration, it was determined that this plan was not feasible. Consequently, we began exploring local property management services, and H Property Service emerged as the top choice. Not only did they come highly recommended by numerous local businesses, but they also expressed their eagerness to collaborate with St. Thomas for many years to come. The Vestry and Staff would like to express their gratitude to Yeni Paitan for her invaluable service to St. Thomas over the years.

Friday is the final day to see Finding Nemo Jr!

General Convention

Every three years, the General Convention of the Episcopal Church meets as a bicameral legislature that includes the House of Deputies (lay and ordained) and the House of Bishops, composed of Deputies and Bishops from each diocese. As the governing body of the Episcopal Church, the General Convention adopts resolutions to shape and finance the mission, ministry and witness of our church. Every nine years, the General Convention elects a new Presiding Bishop.

The 81st General Convention will take place in Louisville, Kentucky June 23-28 this year. This year’s gathering is particularly special because it will elect a new Presiding Bishop. Our rector Jonah Kendall will serve as a deputy from our diocese. He was also appointed a member of the environmental stewardship committee. In this capacity, he will be hearing and reviewing resolutions on the Episcopal Church’s care of creation initiatives.
