Get Ready for ChamberTalks
|
With the return of in-person meetings, we are excited to announce our second annual "ChamberTalks 7x7" event on September 23.
ChamberTalks is a fast-paced round of 7 talks by 7 speakers on 7 different topics. Loosely modeled on the popular TED Talks, the program will inform, inspire and educate you on a variety of subjects of local interest.
Guests will be seated in the luxurious new seating at the Showcase Cinema at Legacy Place (with complimentary popcorn and water of course) to enjoy the presentations. Following the talks, we will head out to the main lobby by the bar for cocktails and hors d' ouevres. At this point you will have the opportunity meet the speakers, ask questions and network with others.
As an added treat, we will have our own member, Dennis Blanchard from Eventful Magic, on hand to amaze and mystify you with feats of magic.
Here are the topics our speakers will be sharing:
- Emerging from a Pandemic: Labor Market Issues
- Managing Remote Employees
- Schools: What We Learned About Remote Learning
- E-commerce’s Impacts on Industrial Real Estate, Employment, and Brick and Mortar Retail
- Cybersecurity: I’m not a large corporation or the government. Should I be concerned?
- The Evolution of Banking
- Transportation Outlook for the Neponset Valley Region

Chamber members enjoyed a beautiful sunny day of golf at Brookmeadow Country Club on August 16. The Chamber appreciates the support of so many who volunteered, sponsored, donated raffle items and joined us on the course!

New Chamber member, Dogtopia, recently celebrated their Grand Opening in Dedham with a ribbon cutting. Dogtopia is the leading destination for dog daycare, boarding and spa services. Their mission is to make sure your four-legged family members are kept safe and have a fun time when they are at our modern, open-play facility.
They are located in the Dedham Plaza at 630 Washington Street.

Business Dialogues: Child Care as the Backbone of the New Economy
|
|
As companies adopt new policies and adapt approaches for their workforces, child care is a leading concern for their employees who are parents.
Together with Commonwealth Corporation and Business Coalition for Early Childhood, the Department of Early Education and Care is holding a series of Business Dialogues to better understand how child care can meet future work-related needs.
In this series, experts from the child care industry participate in an interactive conversation to inspire creativity for the future wellbeing of our youth. Come and help us answer questions like:
- What are employers considering as they balance company and employees’ needs in the return to work?
- What impacts are anticipated for employees with young children?
- How can child care meet these changing needs?

OSHA Small Business Safety and Health Handbook
|
|
OSHA and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) have collaborated to issue an updated workplace safety and health handbook for small businesses.
The Small Business Safety and Health Handbook highlights the benefits of implementing an effective safety and health program, provides self-inspection checklists for employers to identify workplace hazards, and reviews workplace safety and health resources for small businesses.
The self-inspection checklists are designed to help general industry employers identify workplace hazards and where to take action to make their workplaces safer and more healthful for their employees. Employers can use the checklists in several ways, including printing them out and filling them out by hand, or entering information in the fillable PDF forms and then saving the checklists or printing them out.

Protect Your Business From Cyber Threats

Cyber-attacks are a growing concern for small businesses. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has created a cybersecurity guide to help small businesses implement organizational cybersecurity practices.
CISA’s Cyber Essentials is a guide for leaders of small businesses to develop an actionable understanding of where to start implementing organizational cybersecurity practices. Download the Cyber Essentials Starter Kit, the basics for building a culture of cyber readiness.
For a deeper look and greater insight, check out the Cyber Essentials Toolkits, a set of modules designed to break down the CISA Cyber Essentials into bite-sized actions for leadership to work toward full implementation of each Cyber Essential.
