 David Codrea is honored by the Second Amendment Foundation for his excellence in journalism. This is an award in recognition of achievement, and brings a great deal of dignity and distinction to David and his entire realm: Bloggers in the blogosphere, a new geographic residence that is the New Media. With this award, David Codrea has paved the way for credibility and purpose in bloggers worldwide, elevating media now and leaving some behind.
David Codrea is a liberty activist. His recognition is for his effort in breaking the federal government's scandal of Fast and Furious, his coverage he called Project Gunwalker, since it is revealed that guns named in the government's Project Gunrunner were actually walked across the border without straw purchaser involvement after all. This is frightening, and it is dangerous.
David Codrea and his colleague Mike Vanderboegh are the two men who originally broke the story long before CBS reported it, long before FOX reported it, long before Bill O'Reilly blamed gun sellers and gun owners.
This work did take and continues to take a great deal of courage to bring to the mainstream. There is clearly a risk of retaliation, and it is not to be underestimated.
It is this effort under these conditions which make Codrea and Vanderboegh in the position of likely being the Woodward and Bernstein of this scandal's reportage. A lot of us believe this scandal will be of Watergate proportions.
Congratulations, David. It takes a lot of guts.
Patriotism usually does.

Gun Rights Examiner has obtained a copy of a January 20, 2011 email from Barry Orlow, Associate Chief Counsel (Field Operations and Information) for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, calling top management's attention to a January 19 column posted by this columnist, "Open Letter to Senate Judiciary Committee staff on 'Project Gunwalker'."

 Spin, baby, spin. Throughout his frenetic jobs tour across the West this week, President Obama tried to seize the narrative. Republicans, he told champagne-sipping, tea party-trashing Hollywood moguls and tech titans, are intolerant bigots, know-nothings and thugs. They've made his hair "grayer" and left him "all dinged up."
But who's battering whom? Since Day One, Obama has been the Chicago bully in victim's clothing. The mask is wearing thin.
