Are America's gun owners talking to non-gun owners about guns, or about your personal independence, safer streets and smaller government?

Greetings!
For a very personal story in relation to being armed, Dr. AWR Hawkins furnishes insight as a father, a great, great deal of what the second amendment is all about as much as all our other values. Thank you, Dr. Hawkins.
Alan Caruba has an enchanting essay of praise today.. well, I won't spoil it for you. Just click through for it.
The castigation of the mainstream media for its hasty belligerence to the right continues, and that is as it should be. When we police ourselves this way, only then is the MSM even relevant. Michael Barone's admonishment is a good example of our expectations of the MSM.
David Codrea furnishes an example.
Bob Parks is with us, and middle-class conservative Gerard Valentino checks in with observations that heroism endures.
Thanks for being with me.
Liberty in sovereignty,
John Longenecker

John Longenecker Safer Streets Gun control or safer streets: you can't have both
Safer streets are evidence of a healthy self-rule, the very kind the Founding Fathers insisted on. America is a place where our values system is an aggregate of working safeguards of our liberty, our sovereignty, and our total way of life here. It is comprised of marriage and family, personal and professional integrity, good faith and the reasonable expectation of good faith, and a spirit of personal independence as a matter of personal dignity. In short, there is little for public servants to do beyond the enumerated powers they are supposed to have. The problem begins with powers servants are not supposed to have.

David Codrea Second Amendment Bill Maher slanders NRA, gun owners..

[ . . .] And the political left is where the calls for FCC crackdowns are coming from.
In a way, gun owners should be thankful to Maher. He's shown us accommodating those who think like him is impossible. So he has relieved us of any moral obligation to try. More . . .

AWR Hawkins,Ph.D. Military History The Tucson shooting: a reminder to arm yourself.
Amid the endless news coverage and finger pointing associated with the shooting in Tucson, one thing being overlooked is personal responsibility. Our lives are our own responsibilities. We cannot entrust their protection to agents of the state, whether those agents are legislators, police officers, or federal agents. If we want to be safe, we need to arm ourselves as a means of making preparation for safety. Perhaps this is the most valuable lesson the senseless shooting can teach us.

Alan Caruba Warning Signs Chris Christie's Jersey Attitude
[. . .] Last year he spoke to an initially hostile meeting of firefighters. By the time he got through they all crowded around him, eager to shake his hand and get their picture taken with him. Christie is no ordinary politician. "This isn't about politics," he said, "This is about their lives."

Michael Barone Sovereignty Systematic assassinations not part of our politics.

[ . . .] If any blame attaches to others, it is to authorities who had notice of his madness and did not do enough to confine him or prevent him from buying a gun. The Pima County sheriff, who was quick to suggest the attack was among the "consequences" of Republican rhetoric, also reported that the shooter's bizarre behavior was brought to the attention of authorities.

Gerard Valentino Middle-class conservative WWII Vet's heroism lives on in Arizona.
[. . .] There is an old saying that getting soldiers to go into combat the first time is easy, but getting them to return is the problem. Just as we have thousands of military members making the choice to return to Iraq and Afghanistan today, Dick Winters and the men he led went into battle again, and again, and again. When asked by interviewers if he was a hero, Dick Winters always gave the same answer, "No, I am not a hero, but I served with men who were heroes." That statement alone sums up the man, but also sums up the courage of so many Americans including the heroes who stepped up during the Arizona killing spree. More . . .
