Reminder: CFA Applications Due July 28th

New York State has launched Round XIII of the Regional Economic Development Council funding. This year’s programs include capital grant and tax-credit funding combined with a wide range of programs from ten state agencies.

More information on all the programs can be found here. Funding requests must be submitted through the Consolidated Funding Application online portal included in the link.

The core funding includes grants and tax credits to fund high value regional priority projects, as well as additional funding from state agencies to support community revitalization and business growth consistent with existing regional plans.

Programs and Information

Congratulations to the City of Elmira which received a $750,000 Restore New York Grant to help Arbor Housing and Development with its Reynolds Way redevelopment project in Elmira.

The project involves the redevelopment of four blighted long-vacant properties that will be transformed into 41 units of affordable housing.

The program, administered by NYS Empire State Development, is designed to help local governments revitalize their communities and encourage commercial investment, improve the local housing stock, put properties back on the tax rolls, and increase the local tax base.

Grow-NY Food & Agriculture Competition

Grow-NY is a business competition focused on growing an enduring food and agriculture innovation cluster in the Grow-NY region. The competition attracts innovative, high-growth food and agriculture startups from across the globe.

Finalists in the competition will pitch their business ideas for a chance to win up to $1 million. The winning companies will be required to execute plans to increase jobs, connect with local industry partners and increase the local economy.

The applications are now open, and they will close June 15th, 2023. The finalists will be selected in August, mentoring business trips will take place from September to November. Pitch Competition/Summit will take place in November where final winners are selected.

About Us:

Southern Tier Economic Growth (STEG) a private, not-for-profit organization that fosters prosperity and vitality in Chemung County through the planning, promotion and implementation of economic development programs. Its board of directors has over 65 members, over 75 percent are private business people working side-by-side with chief elected officials and education and community leaders to help create and retain jobs, sustaining a strong economy. It works with the Chemung County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA), a Public Benefit Corporation of the State of New York that was formed in 1975. The Chemung County IDA consists of a seven-member Board of Directors and provides a variety of tax incentives, financing, and/or related benefits to a broad range of eligible projects that provide a positive economic impact within Chemung County.
