Listen to a live recording from the children’s Ukelele class!

“Safety and Recovery for Children and Youth” living in the emergency shelter is The Redwood’s set of tailor-made services aimed at giving children and youth opportunities to heal from the trauma they have experienced.

Mental health support and interventions include music workshops that build positive emotions and social connection, through singing and learning to play instruments.

L to R: Rainbow Songs facilitator Zeca, volunteer Eric, and staff member Ngasseu join children living in the emergency shelter for ukelele class.

This spring children have been learning to play the ukelele in weekly classes led by instructors from Rainbow Songs Foundation, an organization that provides high-quality music programs free of cost to families with children using shelter services in the GTA.

The Redwood LOVES our volunteers! ❤️

Redwood volunteers and staff had a sweet time at Courage Cookies!

During National Volunteer Week, we were thrilled to host an appreciation event at Courage Cookies to thank Redwood volunteers for all that they do to assist women and children to live and thrive free from abuse, homelessness and poverty. 💛

The theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week was #EveryMomentMatters. Over the last year, 56 dedicated volunteers contributed 3,187 hours as iDetermine.ca crisis line responders, Bike Club assistants, and Art and Music Class helpers. That’s a LOT of moments that mattered! We are deeply grateful to Redwood Volunteers during National Volunteer Week and all year round! 💙
