Trans-Bridge Lines Completes Safety Week 2024
PBA Member, Trans-Bridge Lines announced that it recently completed its 2024 Safety Week event.
Employees attended a week-long series of sessions on all aspects of safety which included presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on training. Safety Week was held at the company’s Industrial Drive, Bethlehem location, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal’s Times Square Hall room.

I-95 Fully Reopened After Swift Reconstruction Following Collapse
PennDOT, in collaboration with federal and local partners, celebrated the completion of permanent repairs to I-95 in Philadelphia, less than a year after a fire caused a collapse. Following a tanker truck crash and fire on June 11, 2023, a temporary six-lane roadway was constructed in just 12 days. The newly constructed bridge and ramp are now fully operational, reopening all lanes as of May 24, 2024, ahead of schedule. Read more...

IRS Holding Up Fuel Tax Credits
The Internal Revenue Service issued a consumer alert last week warning taxpayers about filing for a Fuel Tax Credit, claiming that the IRS has seen thousands of dubious claims come in where it appears taxpayers are claiming credits for which they are not eligible, leading to refunds being delayed and the need for taxpayers to show they have legitimate documentation to support these claims. DOJ Issues Proposed Rule to Reschedule Marijuana as Schedule III Substance
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) on May 21 published in the Federal Register a proposed rule to reclassify marijuana from a Schedule I controlled substance to a Schedule III drug, as marijuana usage rises. For the first time, more people in the U.S. are using marijuana daily than are drinking alcoholic beverages daily, according to a new study. The comment period on the proposed rule ends July 22. FMCSA Removes Two Devices from List of Registered ELDs
The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) removed BLUE STAR ELD and ELD MANDATE PLUS devices from the list of registered Electronic Logging Devices (ELD). FMCSA placed these ELDs on the Revoked Devices list due to the companies’ failure to meet the minimum requirements established in 49 CFR part 395, subpart B, appendix A.
