4 Ways to Stick to
Your New Year's Resolution

Like most people, you've probably been over indulging for the past month by enjoying all sorts of tasty things. While we all deserve to have fun, these habits don't always make us feel great. If you have resolved to feel better in 2017, consider focusing on quality rather than quantity. High quality is an important farmers' market value brought to you by our vendors who take pride in the goods they offer. Whether they are selling food or artisanal goods, each item is an expression of their love and passion. Shopping at our farmers' market is a way to nourish your family while also nourishing your community.

#1 Meet Ron from Ron's Vegetable Garden:

Ron Hutcheson has been a vegetable gardener since he helped his father as a toddler in their World War II Victory Garden. Ever since, he has had a garden whenever he could. In the summer, he grows vegetables at the Barnstable Long Pond Conservation Area Garden. In the winter, he grows vegetables under grow lights in the basement of his Mashpee home so that he can grow and sell vegetables all year long. Leafy greens lend themselves well to indoor growing and he'll offer arugula, kale, lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, radishes, microgreens and pea shoots throughout the winter.

#2 Meet Seawind Meadows:

Seawind Meadows is a small family owned and operated farm in Dennis. They are known for their beautiful grass-fed Highland cattle, which are raised on Cape. Grass-fed meat is hard to find outside of a farmers' market and offers a superior nutritional profile compared to conventional meat. It also tastes amazing. Seawind Meadows offers a wide variety of common cuts as well as hard to find items like bones and offal, perfect for making bone broth.

If you are new to a diet based on eating whole foods, you might feel like eating healthy takes more time and energy than you expected. Heather Todd Bailey of The Optimal Kitchen is a certified nutritional consultant and natural chef focused on whole, natural and when possible organic foods that come from sustainable and ethical sources. She combines her skills to prepare delicious, wholesome prepared foods. Heather specializes in vegan, gluten free and paleo options making it very easy for you to get more healthy food into your regular rotation.

#4 Meet Salt Cellar Shop:

Healthy living isn't just about what goes into your body. We can also strive to minimize our exposure to toxins on our body and in the air we breathe.  Salt Cellar Shop features botanically infused goods that harness the medicinal properties found in plants to heal, nourish and protect. All made by hand with natural ingredients. Products include herbal salves, oils, sprays, balms, as well as beeswax candles, cedar incense and smudge sticks.

Vendors this month

This season we're doing things a little differently. As you know, summers are extra busy for small businesses on Cape Cod. In order to enjoy a much needed break, some of our vendors will participate every other week while others will be there every week. We're splitting the markets each month into A weeks and B weeks so that you know who to expect each time you visit.

Tips to get the most out of each market:
  • We have a mix of new and returning vendors. New vendors are noted below. Be sure to check them out!
  • Some vendors will be available at a limited number of markets. These vendors are indicated with an asterisk (*). We want you to know so you don't miss them.
