Greetings!

As Thanksgiving approaches, we at My Sister's Place are incredibly thankful for your support and generosity. You answered our call for the Purple Purse Challenge, helping us raise nearly $10,000, and have already pledged clothes, gifts, and food for all of our shelter families for the holidays. Last week, we held a Thanksgiving Meal for our shelter families , made possible by your support. Over delicious food served by our staff, family members and staff bonded over games and good conversation. Your giving has made a world of difference to our Shelter families.

My Sister's Place staff has also been grateful for the opportunity to give to our community this month. Community Programs Manager Chandra Robinson engaged in multiple domestic violence speaking events at American University and George Washington University, as well a radio interview on 93.9 KYS FM. Meanwhile, our Outreach staff participated in a panel discussion at the University of the District of Columbia, educating students on safety planning and local community DV resources. In addition, staff attended a job fair at America Works (a TANF employment vendor) to distribute educational materials, addressing the correlation between domestic violence and unemployment.

As we approach Thanksgiving, we hope you will continue your enthusiastic engagement this Giving Tuesday and at our holiday fundraising party at Cafe Saint-Ex (more on those below!). However you choose to celebrate this season of giving, thank you for supporting My Sister's Place, and we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Warmly,
The My Sister's Place Team

P.S. Be on the lookout for your Holiday Card in the mail! Not on our physical mailing list? Email Renae, our Development Coordinator, to join!
