Greetings!

America has spent billions and billions of both dollars and hours in trying to educate liberals and make them understand liberty. But they won't, no matter what we say to them. Dennis Prager has a theory I support.

Gerard Valentino independently resonates with this in his own commentary today.

David Codrea reports on a similar twisted thinking of libs...

Glad you're with me.

John Longenecker Safer Streets Summoning sovereign self-rule by living it.

We used to have a motto in school that is used by law enforcement: Use your authority. Well, all such authority comes up from the people. The people, the sovereign of this country, are the supreme authority here. It's time we taught it more to other Americans and used it.

MEI had an afterthought once I'd uploaded my Examiner article for today. It is how the battle with recalcitrant servants is futile when we can win our self-rule better by living it. [Recalcitrant means defying authority.] That is to say, educating not servants nor socialist activists as if they're going to come around, but by educating the rest of the country.

How does it work? Simple: Under the present circumstances, the electorate is puzzled, and getting less puzzled every day. They are motivated to learn all they can, hungry for freedom answers, and willing to follow through. There's no better people to summon for this than the liberty purists who not only know the law and our inheritance of supreme authority, but summon it themselves in due process and a faith in the system.

Sure the system is rigged by some, we know this. But the better way to unwind that corruption is to invoke due process, and the best way to do that is to clarify values of our society which serve as safeguards of our society.

I am very much aware that some are so comfy with corruption that they get their little piece at the expense of the national interest. Work around them. Work without them. There are millions of Americans who are not corrupt and who see our values system as the primary safeguard of our freedom, namely integrity, fair play and good faith. Are we in large enough numbers?

One of the best examples of this is exposing disinformation and smear dividing Americans. As that afterthought of today's Examiner article, I add that independence of public servants is not hatred of government.

Independence is discouraged by a formula of governance. It is not that officials think they know more, it is that they simply want more. What they want - control - is not theirs to have, and resistance to that wrongful motivation is not anti-government, it is pro-independence of the sovereign, and that is as it should be.

It is here that such freedom assertions are smeared as being anti-government. Preparedness for things in recognition of government's limitations seems to insult them, and anti-freedom writers castigate such preparedness.

But government's best is not as good as citizens' average mediocre when it comes to disaster preparedness and response as a very important example. Citizens are already embedded within communities, and, alerted by any system at all, such as radio or the internet or cell broadcast, mobilizes assets hours to days sooner than government insistence to do nothing until they get there. People in Katrina were not relocated to be cared for, they were excluded by a system insistent on being in charge without them.

I love Rebecca Solnit's analysis of five disasters in her book, A Paradise Built In Hell [Viking]. Among other keen observations, Solnit points out how citizens are reliable in a majority of rescues not requiring technical expertise. Valuable time is not wasted then. Government insistence that citizens know nothing and must be removed and not involved is my own complaint as well, and is the cornerstone of abuses of gun control doing the exact same thing with people again and again.

The first thing for the electorate to understand and accept is that officials freeze citizens out of self-rule because they know darned good and well that citizens often - very often - do a better job of things than government does. The proper perspective for a sovereign people to accept for the new Congress promising smaller government as well as for citizens to accept is that officials actually compete with the sovereign for who will run this country.

Taking out the sovereign as the competition is what officials have been doing to the electorate. Educating them won't work.

Use your authority.

"Ex-Con: Where Do I Fit In Anti-Gun Campaign?" the New Haven Independent headline reads.

The "ex-con" is James Hanton, "released from jail this spring, [who] complained that he can't vote to retain or replace elected officials who have a direct impact on how thoroughly or not gun violence is going to be rooted out of his community."

In this case, those ideals are represented by the bond Americans have for their families. Although freedom of religion is also a target since many terrorists deem America's bond with Christianity and Judaism a part of what makes us the Great Satan. More . . .

Why conservatives are happier than liberals

dennis-pragerAccording to polls - Pew Research Center, the National Science Foundation - and studies such as Professor Arthur Brooks' Gross National Happiness, conservative Americans are happier than liberal Americans.

Liberals respond this way: "If we're unhappier, it's because we are more upset than conservatives over the plight of those less fortunate than ourselves."

But common sense and data suggest other explanations. More . .
