District Announces “Exciting Things are Happening Here” Campaign
On May 21, area business leaders and community partners gathered at the new HPD North Belt Division to announce the various improvements coming to the North Houston District. News reporters were taken on a tour to view the major projects in progress.
This month,
Huitt-Zollars, a design consultant, and partners kicked off the Livable Centers Study.
The project is part of the
District’s 2030 Plan to ensure ease of mobility and accessibility in and around the area and facilitate development and redevelopment activities.
T
he focus of the study is the northeast quadrant of the North Houston District – Greenspoint.
Stakeholder and public meetings are being planned for this summer and will be announced on our FaceBook page.
Effective this May, an agreement with the Harris County Attorney’s Office has been established to enhance nuisance abatements civil enforcement activities.
Celena Vinson, assistant county attorney, met with local public safety leaders to discuss issues and action plans.
District Spotlight
Deputy Quentin Young
Meet Deputy Quentin Young. Deputy Young has been with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for 18 years, and 10 of those years patrolling our area.
He has worked in the District as bike patrol and now in our new police vehicle during the morning shift.
Deputy Young has seen the District evolve from the Greater Greenspoint District to the North Houston District. “I’ve seen major changes,” says Deputy Young.
“I see more families and kids out, less panhandlers and illegal activity.”
When off duty, Deputy Young enjoys hunting, fishing and working on his yard.”
