SolSmart Silver Designation

Solar is the most abundant renewable energy resource, and our efforts to make solar energy more accessible to residents and businesses have earned us the SolSmart Silver status.

Our Environmental Sustainability Division led interdepartmental efforts to achieve this designation. Requirements include inspection and permit staff training, code and zoning reviews, faster permit turnaround and an online resource detailing the steps in the our permit process for small rooftop solar cells.

Visit www.norfolk.gov/solar for information about business and residential solar permits, zoning and resources.

The SolSmart Silver designation is just the beginning because we're going for gold!
