Beach Season is Here in Norfolk!

Norfolk's 7.3 miles of beaches are open to the public and we encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the beautiful shoreline. Our Department of Parks and Recreation maintains three beach parks - all three feature parking, restrooms, benches and shade trees.

Community Beach Park – 700 E. Ocean View Ave.

Ocean View Beach Park – 100 W. Ocean View Ave.

Sarah Constant Beach Park – 300 W. Ocean View Ave.

Beach Safety is Key

Our beach lifeguards, stationed at Community Beach Park from noon until 6 p.m. through Labor Day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, are always prepared, including Chief Lifeguard Dan Jones, who recounted a rescue from last year’s Independence Day weekend when he recently received the Red Cross National Lifesaving Award.

Residents are reminded that Sarah Constant Beach Park and Ocean View Beach Park will not have beach guards on duty; however, lifeguards patrol all beaches on ATVs during duty hours. Patrons swim at their own risk.

How's the Water?

Norfolk’s new Water Quality Report shows that once again our tap water has met all federal and state requirements.

Norfolk has Virginia’s best tasting tap water, according to the American Water Works Association.

Clear the Way

Our street sweeping program plays a key role in keeping our waterways and environment clean. We have the equipment to remove grease and grime from the roads, but we can't get it done without your help!

See why it's important to keep the curb line clear so only rain goes down the storm drain.

It's that time of year! Norfolk Harborfest returns June 9 - 11!
