Moores Bridges Turns 150

Our Department of Utilities marked a major milestone with a special ceremony on July 31! It was to celebrate 150 years of water service from the City's oldest water treatment facility, Moores Bridges Water Treatment Plant (MBWTP).

The ceremony focused on the rich history of the MBWTP, which serves nearly 250,000 Norfolk residents and businesses and almost one million consumers throughout the region, and years of service for several Utilities employees.

Our city continues to lead in high-quality water distribution while creating hundreds of jobs. Norfolk's reputation for providing clean and reliable drinking water is a direct result of the unwavering commitment of our utility professionals.

The team is focused on providing our consumers with clean, safe, and reliable drinking water. Their efforts have earned them American Water Works Association's Best Tasting Tap Water in Virginia Award for two consecutive years, a true testament to the unparalleled efforts of this department.
