With February's return of a chill in the air, we hope to warm your heart this month with an adventurous treasure hunt, delightful bird walks, engaging children's programs, and feel-good finds. The Leap Year

2024 is a leap year, which is an extra day—February 29—added nearly every four years to the calendar year. Adding an extra day every four years keeps our calendar aligned correctly with the astronomical seasons, since a year according to the Gregorian calendar (365 days) and a year according to Earth’s orbit around the sun (approximately 365.25 days) are not the same length of time. Without this extra day, our calendar and the seasons would gradually get out of sync. Stop in to the Learning Center Barn to see how far some of our native animals leap in length! Come investigate the fascinating figures from creatures great and small.

The Adventure Continues

Two treasures found...two to go!

The unique holiday treasure hunt celebrating the beauty of the seasons continues into this February. Two very special, one-of-a-kind gilded treasures are carefully hidden across the reserve, each one representing a season. Summer and winter were found, but spring and autumn remain! You can find the clues to the remaining treasures on our Instagram, Facebook, and on paper in the Learning Center Barn, but below are the spring clues to get you started.

Good Luck, and may nature be your guide! #GOHOHO
